R.I.P Mrs Thatcher

RIP Margaret Thatcher

That's a shame, love her or hate her she did what she said she was going to do.

No doubt a week of eulogies to come.

I remember the mid-late 70's with their strikes - coal, british leyland etc. All before the asian tiger economies, but that period laid their foundations. Thatcher did her best work in the early 80's, even excluding the Falklands (who's long-term payback will be in territorial resources). The excesses of the late 80's including the lack of foresight on financial devolution and credit restrictions led to the boom & bust of the last 25yrs... and tony blair.

true mate, Just sent a post to admins to close this one.

That's a shame

no it's not

hope she burns in hell
many uneducated people may think differently

destroyed communities, jobs, lives

she surrounded herself with paedophiles in her cabinet so she could control them

she also would do whatever necessary with her 'security services' to control and blackmail opposition politicians even if it meant standing by and watching kids being abused

wake the fuck up if you defend this 'thing'

plus before blair resigned he doubled the budget for protecting ex pms, round the click protection for a potential 40 years
all expms can afford their own protection

good riddance

hope blair follows soon

Cheers Mate,

Didn't they promise a state funeral for this her when she passed on?

Thatcher's funeral should be put out to private tender as a sign of respect. Lowest bidder wins.

I was picking coal of the side of the Railway banks at the age of 4 because of the miners strike. I come from Barnsley, the most Anti-Thatcher place on earth. My Dad worked for the NCB and private mining industry after it was privatised in 1993. He laughs at people who go on about this, he preferred the private Mining industry, better pay and a lot safer. He said because there were fewer unions, the dangerous idiots got sacked. People used to come out on strike in the 1970's because the Sun was out, "sunshine strikers".

What communities did she destroy? Time destroyed those communities in the same way it would have destroyed a village that was based around producing the Sinclair Spectrum... adapt and overcome or die, they didn't do either.

The worst thing Thatcher did for the working class was allowing the Grammar Schools to be closed. The one true thing that got the poor out of poverty, in fact got her to becoming PM.

Also not sure which Paedophiles you are on about, if it was the Lord Mc case then that has been shown to be utter nonsense.

What I mam noticing is people hate her or love her, but they knew what she stood for. What on earth these lot stand for today, I have no idea.

I suppose you could also say that churchill caused the blitz and the loss of millions of lives.
You have to do what you can with what you've got where you are, you don't get everything right.

Just shows different people view things differently.

The most divisive politician out there for sure!

I imagine fan pages like this will go crazy in the next few days:

As I've got older I have more time for her actually. Plus she was the first female PM ever. Can't take that away from her.

Agree with that. Saw the 2 best public schools in Bolton turned into comprehensives. The CofE one I went to is still there, but just part of the pack. The other has ended up canibalised as a special school for the local misfits and dropouts.

Hindsight and history will show the good work balanced with the bad but in the end she said what she was going to do and did it... ironically it was out of this that New Labour was forged once Thatcher had done the hatchet job on the Unions Labour didn't have the guts to do themselves. They're trying to get back in with backstabing Ed. But the world has changed...

well, everyone views things differently, bit of a non argument
what you have to do is educate yourself as to the truth

churchill for all his faults is almost certainly regarded and quite rightly so a hero
far from perfect but one of the greates Britons ever
he shouldn't even be mentioned in a thatcher thread imo

now take the time to look into what i said in my post and listen to the link and do some research
if you're not suitably disgusted and horrified, check your compass

Loving the #nowthatchersdead hashtag. Everyone thinks Cher is dead! :)

Churchill was an absolute Madman, often found drunk and on Benzedrine. His schemes were far fetched and killed many Australians and New Zealanders at Gallipoli in WWI. He got voted out for a reason after WWII, he was lucky to not be ousted whilst in power during the war.

A bit of time and Hollywood did the rest for Churchill, most of the speeches associated with him are not his own. Whilst a determined man, he was lucky that Britain needed a mad man in 1940, because he was genuinely mad.
