Magnanimous speech by Cameron and very sensible. IMO exactly the right thing to do. Steady the ship then have an election.
I predict Corbyn getting in. I think people will trust him to fairly distribute the billions we may now be able to spend on the UK to replace funding from the EU.

It's not an election, it's a leadership election within the party. Tories will stay in government until 2020.

In other words, Boris or Gove are likely to be PM by the autumn.

I never voted for him, but I agree wholeheartedly with that statement.
Were you a UKIP voter. I couldn't imagine that you were a Milliband supporter, the coalition had just saved us from the labour mess, the liberals had committed suicide for the good of the country.

Liberal Democrat.

Nothing was saved, just postponed.

You keep saying labour mess, it's greedy market mess, labour might have been in power, but you can't keep saying labour mess...

Cameron is gone.. poor guy
How can he be a poor guy. He has acted as irresponsibly as he possibly could . He has talked the economy down and threatened the people of the country he leads with punishment if they don't do as he tells them. You have to ask what happened in his negotiations, we don't really know, as it is with the EU, things are done in corridors and with people we don't really know. He came back and exaggerated what he had achieved with the EU and pinned his hopes on there being more I'm alright jacks than truly concerned Britons. He got it wrong and has done the country serious damage.

You won. Why not celebrate magnanimously, and let the people feeling despondent be despondent?

Okay, not sure why I am reopening this because I expect that I will just be shouted down and accused of falling for mis-information but ...

Walter Hallstein was never a member of the Nazi party and indeed rejected Nazi ideology.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Hallstein
The only "information" I can find to support your theory re Hallstein is on a single website that could easily be accused of mis-representing facts (Also had an interesting article saying that there is good evidence to support that the Earth is hollow). Even so, thousands of people were forced in to the Nazi party just to be able to survive, and it is claimed that Hallstein joined professional organisations that were backed by the Nazi party only so he could carry on being a lawyer. After the war, he was never accused of any "crimes" and resumed his civilian life. England was saved invasion by the Channel and so never had to experience political repression and pressure such that the Nazi's imposed on their own people, and the rest of Europe.

He was not the first President of the EU, he was the first President of the Commission of the European Economic Community. There is no overall president of the EU as such:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_European_Union

He was one of the founding fathers of the EU, along with Winston Chruchill and other European leaders and academics:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Founding_fathers_of_the_European_Union

You are using unsubstantiated information.

I appreciate that you've taken the trouble to make some checks which is more than some do, and I don't expect anyone to get a full overall picture without doing dozens of hours digging.

Noted your comments re WH presidency which is correct.

There are lots of documents linking him with the Nazi party before and throughout the war. And he isn't the only one...just the headline act.

Read what I said and ponder. Read about corbyn's history. If you support him I will respect that but understand, firstly how labour left the economy in 2010 and where the old far left labour would take us. I appreciate it is personal opinion and I fully respect your freedom to have yours.

I agree with your statement, we all know that, my statement poor guy is human sympathy, not for his political career.
I never trusted him, but he is a fellow human being hence the poor guy statement.

I know about Labour party, I know about Corbyn, I worked in the city for over 2 decades, I know what went on between 2000 and 2008 and yes the mess was not labour creation, in fact Gordon was paying down UK debt in the early 2000 before we had the crash and when you say mess, you should atleast state the mess.

Yay!

I almost cant believe it - I'm positive that this is for the better for all of us, including Europeans. The EU is a corrupt entity that exists for it's own purpose. Europeans deserve better.

The UK will be better off; lighter on our feet; stronger (being joined to 26 weaker countries and rising could only ever dilute our strength); in control for the first time in 4 decades.

Can we deal with the banking system now please? :)

One thing I noticed on social media throughout the night is the disgusting slagging of whole cities and populations that 'democratically' voted out. It just showed the type of arrogance, ignorance and entitlement that ultimately a lot of the people in these places were voting against.

I didn't win and I am certainly not celebrating a situation that is going to test our countries resolve more than anything we have seen since the nineties. We got out of the abusive marriage but now we have to build a life outside of it, the marriage was financially secure but the abuse was a price not worth paying for that security.
If a car you are in is being driven over a cliff and you jump out, you might be happy you have not gone over the cliff but you still have to walk home.

I don't think it's time for celebration or sorrow but it's going to be exciting and eqaully challenging times ahead...

Bank of England will go on a huge bond buy back for the next few weeks.
Finance shares down sharply, and few others, indication of time to buy????

See the footsie is now back above 6K(-4.3%). Was- 8% drop at one point.

Liberal Democrat.

Geez, your due a win at some point. Your not a London Irish fan as well are you?

As a side note, if my posts get edited, can you please put a note into the post to state this. Something like 'Profanity removed by **Whoever**'. Or just star out some words. Thank You.
