Exactly. I've said already I don't have any ill will towards Him, its just the business model that stinks. I've already said its absolutely not him doing it alone. Its just one of His offers that particularly stunk of offering zero value, even moreso than the regular Acorn offerings :)

Why don't you remove references to his name them because you've basically called him a con man and its bang out of order.

This has been a great thread I'd hate to see it get removed stop singling out one seller and get things back on track

It wouldn't be "daft" it'd be total idiocy!

I'm going to Eat. Oh yes, where at?

Yes I see how subjective this is as that seems an absolute gem to me.
And listen, Einstein said "if I could be right 51% of the time I would work on wall street".

I'm going to order some food, where from ? just eat, how can I just eat I haven't ordered yet ?

Lot's of ways to look at everything.

Someone will be along in a minute to post how to make money from buying that domain for a grand and prove me wrong.... won't they???

yes as has already been said in thread it is up to the individual how much he/she pays for a name. All I will say on the Edwin point if his prices are to high how is he still in business? He must be doing something right to have built up a good customer base. if people did not want to pay prices for names they would keep there money in there purse/wallet.as has been said in the past something is only worth as much as some one will pay for it.

Well my 'show me how this domain possibly makes money' request is an open invitation...

I have no idea and it would be none of my business. If you asked me how 'monkey.co.uk' could make money I'd also have no idea. That would be up to the person that bought the domain at a price they were happy to pay for it.

If no domainers reading this thread have any idea how it'd make money.... then doesn't that in itself tell you something?

Surely it can still be developed just like any other domain? As far as I'm away, Google just stripped away the benefit of EMD, rather than actually penalise them. Quality content, quality backlinks, rank it just like any other domain. Yes it'll look daft, but if it's top 5 or so in SERPS, it'll be clicks.

That isn't the argument. Of course they can still be used. The argument is why you'd choose to spend £X,XXX on it when you can come up with something equally as good if not better for reg fee.

Yes, don't buy it.

You have not given an example of a recent sale of the type of domain which is bugging you.

Most people wouldn't, but if someone chose to then that's their business. What is or isn't 'equally as good if not better' would be your own opinion based on the way you would use it.

I'm not privy to peoples personal transactions so giving examples of actual sales is rather hard. I can easily give some examples of offers of domains at whatever price which provide zero value to the buyer though if you like?

It tells me that I wouldn't use it for a website because I'm not an affiliate marketer, I sell domains (business plans not included!)

So if the person selling domain names also happened to develop sites, would you agree they'd know the difference between a domain which was developable, and one which you couldn't possibly develop without losing money?

Of course you can but the fact of the matter is people don't buy them, at least not very often. The longer the name the more alternative options, that is the nature of the beast.
