In which case an end user won't buy it and neither will any get-rich-quick affiliate marketer that has half a brain! So it won't sell.

However, if an end user likes the domain for whatever reason and they haven't been told by the seller that it will bring them untold riches, it's their choice to buy it, develop a website on it and promote it in the way they see fit for their business.

Is Edwin forcing people to buy domains somewhere and I've missed it? If so I'll shut up!!

Grant

Yet again you completely fail to understand the point I'm making.

No domain sellers are forcing anyone to make a purchase, that is correct.

Domain sellers are effectively ripping off their buyers by selling them absolute turds that have zero chance of generating any ROI at all.

No

Because no one is forcing them to do anything

They can do whatever like with their money

If they choose to buy a domain with it, that is their business

When you sell a domain, you aren't selling a dream, they get the domain, if they themselves have placed a dream around it, again, that is their business, not the sellers fault.

BTW I think it's genuinely disgusting (having caught up with all the posts) that I have been personally singled out.

Very, very, very out of order. There's no possible excuse for that. Period.

Gosh, wouldn't it be daft for a chain of cafes to call themselves Eat?

A bad example as they don't sell online, but an example nonetheless. Well done.

As you have approx. 6,000 generic domains for sale and have sold many, many generics over the years I am sure, perhaps you could provide, say, 6 more examples?

Example of a recent sale ?

Playing devils advocate, I don't think you have been personally singled out on purpose by Monkey in all honesty Edwin, I think it is more a case of being a well known person on here who he can use to prove his point (Nokta could have been singled out just as easily, except they aren't as vocal on here etc.)

I'd love to hear your own 2 minute outline of how someone pays 4 figures and then monetises [5wordRandomMortgagePhrase].co.uk and doesn't lose their investment in the process.

This is going to be comedy gold.

Exactly. I've said already I don't have any ill will towards Edwin, its just the business model that stinks. I've already said its absolutely not him doing it alone. Its just one of Edwins offers that particularly stunk of offering zero value, even moreso than the regular Acorn offerings :)

Oh, but I am being singled out and my credibility, honesty and integrity ripped to pieces.

As I said: No possible excuse for that. It is disgusting, but it seems many people are happy because it's somehow "entertaining". It's not. It's wrong. Period.

Then show me how someone makes money from one of those purchases, and make me look stupid in the process for all of my posts in this thread. I won't hold my breath.

Like Frank says, it could have easily been directed at Nokta or anyone else with the same business model.

If there was ever an opportunity for justifying the price points on long tail EMD's - it'd be now and Edwin, you're the perfect person to do it. Please do so.

I'm done with this thread and all the pathetic twisting to try and hide what's really going on which is out and out bullying and character assassination.

Well I can assure you that I was playing no part in that, as I merely made a comment which was actually trying to take the 'heat' away from you.

I don't find it entertaining at all, and I personally have nothing against your business model - I would be a hypocrite if I did, as I made good money from selling .org.uk names myself which many didn't agree with either, but we both let the buyer decide if the names were right for them - neither of us forced buyers to purchase our names.

No, you're missing the point totally! The domain is an absolute turd to YOU because it doesn't fit in with YOUR way of generating ROI. That doesn't mean it's a turd to the person that doesn't want to make money the way you do!

Christ, maybe we should all be asking end users to submit business plans for your approval before selling them a domain!

Have you had a word with all the registrars out there? Because by your rational, they're ripping people off on a mass scale by selling domains to people that don't fit your business model.

This is a great thread people should try and not make it personal other wise it will be closed down like so many other interesting threads

People need to remember that the people on this forum are business people and not your friends.

If you want to know what's really going on with the large portfolio owners then go to companies house and look up their LTD companies and download their accounts for the year some of which makes very interesting reading and will give you a clear picture of the domain market

Well my 'show me how this domain possibly makes money' request is an open invitation... if anyone thinks I'm an idiot then by all means go ahead and confirm it by explaining how you pay £1200 for a 5 word mortgage EMD and make some money.

Talk about clutching at straws. Doesn't even deserve a response this point, does it?

No it was deliberate and specific.
