UK Leaves the EU - What happens next?

Sadly there are many racist people who believe they have been vindicated by the result.

In a way, id rather people out themselves as racist morons (as long as it's not in the form of a direct attack on another person, or a call for violence)

Do not assume because someone points out something that goes against your point of view that they are panicking.
I was merely pointing out an easy, pragmatic solution to something you highlighted as a problem.

Feel free to ignore my advice.

But, suggesting a solution, might benefit other forum members more than relentlessly looking for problems - as some members here appear to be doing.

Or possibly there has been a large increase in racist abuse, in line with the reports. That's what the police and the organizations who deal with the fallout are saying.

According to....the media.

I agree that it is very important to be skeptical and careful of what sources you believe - but the only sources you've pointed to have been some of the least reliable, extremist conspiracy websites.

It's easy and extremely lazy to label things as such. I don't agree with everything, but taking the time to get an understanding of how the world works behind the scenes is enlightening, and worrying, but should be done by everyone. Anyone who only gets information from mass media is largely just seeing two sides of the same coin.

You mentioned Jo Cox, are you still denying she was murdered? I ask because I think this is helpful in demonstrating your reliability as a source - you were very quick to believe completely unsubstantiated theories that suited your worldview, even in the face of solid evidence to the contrary

Solid evidence...haha, you never did substantiate what that 'evidence' was did you!

Name just one thing that PROOVES she was murdered.

Name just one thing that PROOVES she was murdered.

She was shot and stabbed in front of witnesses and taken to hospital with numerous more witnesses including medical staff and police, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

Yet you ignore this solid evidence and prefer to espouse the theory that everyone is lying - and even that the man who helped her had died years ago, based on the fact that someone of the same name had died.
I imagine several people with your name have died in the past. Is this good evidence you are dead?

There is no standard of proof that will satisfy someone who is insistent on clinging to delusion.

Don't intend to carry on down the road with this one, but you did tell me to stop panicking, so I feel that I was entitled to comment on that as I wasn't. Just getting fed up with the language being used, panicking, bring the market down, etc etc, when people are making comments.

Thank you for the advise, but it looks like it is against EU Registry TOS so wouldn't work if they decided to investigate or someone complained.

If this was acceptable as 'solid evidence' there would be no need for law courts....people would be convicted on the strength of media reports.

If it was a hoax put out to boost support for remain, then yes, it would take a lot of planning and a couple of dozen willing participants to carry it off and a media to brainwash the majority of people who accept what they see on TV and the papers.

From wikipedia: A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously."

There is no standard of proof that will satisfy someone who is insistent on clinging to delusion.

Wow, we've agreed on two things now.

but you did tell me to stop panicking,

Well....

I said:
You could panic
when perhaps

I should have said:
One could panic

but that just sounds too poncy for this forum.

You're preaching to the converted. I thought I was the only one trying to look on the bright side. :(

Where are you on the

Five stages of Brexit?

I'm guessing it's a 3 or 4? :p

Yet with no evidence at all you have decided your conspiracy theory is the truth!

Extraordinary claims required extraordinary evidence - and the hypotheses that requires the fewest assumptions is usually the truth.

Tell me, if every attack is a false flag, do you believe terrorism doesn't actually exist?

I've never lied
...that's a lie

:)

Except all that 'scaremongering' by people who dared to know what they were talking about has turned out to be reasonably accurate so far.

On the other hand the Brexit camp have abandoned half their claims and promises in the first few days

That Simpsons parody of the 5 stages of grief is actually pretty relevant. Many people are feeling desperately sad for their country, in some ways it feels like a bereavement - certainly a huge shock and a huge loss.

Does it not strike you as a bit cruel to mock those who are grieving?

I don't think Brexit has made Britain more racist, i do think however, that is had made it socially acceptable for those racists to be more open and proud about their racism...
The way I see it, 17 million people may not be racist, but the racists now feel that they have 17 million other people who agree with them. And that's lamentable.

It's obviously not the fault of all Leave voters, but it's deeply unfortunate and depressing all the same.

I'll be upfront about this: I think xenophobia and racism may have played a bigger part in the result than many people will want to admit. I stress that that may still have been a minority, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was enough to have tipped the result to the Leave side. And I think that's another small part of why I'm feeling so angry and depressed about it.
