One person catching a lot...

When nominet announce large registrars will be allowed to take control and auction off expiring domains the only person it will really be a blow to is Denys since he catches everything.

That's one way to look at it Murray! It's that frustrating I am considering paying one of my staff to track down pending drop owners to get them to renew!

The guy is just too fast, on gmg.co.uk, I sent the check, 5ms later it came back as available, the reg request was sent 4ms after that and within those 9ms he'd got his response and reg'd it. Good luck to people relying on their 60ms checks, you're pissing in the wind.

There is a larger delay than that, from multiple logs have seen people get a reg when they have gotten the N after someone else has already sent the epp request. I've seen names still returning the N 100s of ms after sending requests so the 9 or 90 is an irrelevance.

Unless you was polling every 5ms and it was regged on 1 poll, available on the next, then regged on the 3rd you wouldnt know if it dropped 100ms before your N.

Of course the actual drop could be either side of my check delay but it's still fast. I rarely miss drops with similar responses with anyone other than Denys. With timing like this I usually get the domain. Denys seems to outcatch me no matter what speed I run at and how fast my reg is.

Seems like domain catching is going the way of F1 with Sebastian Vettel...very predictable whos going to win nearly all the time.

This is actually getting beyond a joke now. Time after time I have domains booked out with every public dropcatcher going and Denys beats them to it. There is more to play here than having the best script.

I've not bothered checking it for a few days. Did something good drop today?

(Domain removed by request) - PR6 with hundreds of amazing backlinks. It was booked out with EVERYONE and I had my rented script on it too.

I really must look more into seo!. Problem with public catchers is although at times they catch, i dont understand how they can compete, i mean how many tags does a public dropcatcher use?. A public dropcatcher could be querying 20 domains on one tag for all i know, making it a waste of time and money barely making it a service just above manually picking up expired domains.

They could also try harder to go for what they perceive is less contested inventory to increase their bottom line. Nothing wrong with that.

I would have thought you've been around long enough to recognise tags that catch.

I haven't been as active lately, I think the landscape has changed a bit with denys dominating..

But before that dropsystem, drop, domainwatchlist, dacr all used to catch their fair share and some premiums occasionally too.

Dropsystem and drop alone have made me thousands in sales over this past year, so many thanks to them.

Well there is really, because its misleading, customers pay good money and spend time loading domains.

I would never expect a public catcher to score a premium .co.uk for £30. Its a very rare occurrence these days.

I've caught (and see others catch) plenty of good names with public catchers including LLLs (pre Denys romping) and still see public catchers getting names. Yesterday Contessa to Domain Monster for example.

All I know is, in the past anyone who has found a glitch, loop, pattern has NEVER shared it (that I know of) and they have proper rinsed their advantage with complete disregard.

If you had this advantage would you share it ? or would you be going ner ne ner ner cleaning up ?

Surely its only fair to share your secret with your fellow domainers:)

I'm surprised he went for that one... he normally sticks to premium .co.uks. Has he ever gone for SEO domains? I had it booked at DropSystem (priority 4), DomainWatchlist, DomainJunky, DomainMonster, DomainView hosted... I was pretty hopeful :( Maybe there weren't enough premium domains going yesterday so he had to find something else! I got Contessa which is ok, but I'm not sure he would have even gone for that anyway.
