One person catching a lot...

I see BACKORDER caught the last 3L that dropped. Luck, or a return to the old days?

Time will tell.

I wasn't aware that Backorder were in the same place as Denys. As far as the whois for today's lll & virtuoso they're in the same building. So I can only assume they're acting together exploiting the same loophole.

It's just one of those accommodation type addresses, I've seen several domainers using that address on the Who-Is for domains, note the different apt numbers. Rob_F also uses the same address, again, different apt number, someone else told me previously that it might be an address of an accountants, though I think virtual office/accommodation address is more likely.

I can say with some intrinsic accuracy that it was a fluke considering were catching with an abacus and Royal Mail 2nd class.

I do miss the conjecture and theories though, viva 2006!

Then there's hope for the rest of us old timers. Ah, 2006, twas a good year for plots and machinations!

As this thread is so well read, I'd love to find out if either of these two are true or completely made up?

Think these are supposed to work for one domain at a time and script wrote to ram so no disk use, but I think that's standard anyway?

You send your epp create but leave the last digit out and when it shows as available you send the last to complete, with such a short last digit send, it's quicker than a whole epp create? Hope I've explained that right. Doesn't sound right to me but what do I know.

Second one was polling the dac and when a break in the usual returns was identified you send the epp create, which allows the request to be sent before the dac showed available, something about dac changing just as it becomes available? Thought this unlikely as the calculation to do this would be slower than the extra ms for dac to correct itself?

westcountry & gic caught today by people who are not Denys..

Back to a more level playing field perhaps?

DAC lease

I've decided to become a Nominet member and get a tag.

Hypothetically, how much could I get for leasing out my DAC?

Probably not as much as you are thinking, you have to remember, you could get your mate down the pub to sign up for £60 a month, so its down to how much the value of separation is.

Not looking for big money - I'm getting the tag anyway and I don't have the time/motivation to start dropcatching, so if I can offset part of my membership fees I'll be happy.

If anyone's interested, send me a PM.

If you flooded requests when you knew a domain was dropping how long would the ban be 24 hours or less?
If was 24 hours you would miss alpha if you flooded for yesterdays 3 letter is that why it went elsewhere.

Nah - I didn't poll at all yesterday, just as I was going to start - the lll.co.uk dropped..

I was just sleeping a little...

Alpha what a top name i had this backordered and loaded, noir was also a fantastic catch imo the other day, Im now with domaincatch so cant complain if i catch about 5% of what Denys catches :p.
