Sounds interesting. It's an amazing feat of engineering. I mean, it currently takes light 19.5 odd hours to reach us from where it currently is. I find that mindblowing

Yep! He might burn through government money like no one else, but he's a visionary and the world needs more people just like him. I enjoyed his tweets on the 1st.

Even if it is a mock up (which I dont believe for a second) I doubt it would be light rendering that lets it down. Even your average laptop can quite happily render photo realistic scenes these days. Light modelling is pretty well understood. Stuff looks weird to us in space because there is no atmospheric occlusion.

I would assume Brewster is messing about but sadly there are in reality people that stupid who believe such rubbish.
I have heard the 'theory' thing so often. This is usually said by people who don't know what 'theory' in mathematics means. If they go and look it up I guess they'll shut up.
A good quote 'In science, a theory is not a guess, not a hunch. It's a well-substantiated, well-supported, well-documented explanation for our observations'. It doesn't mean what they think it means. That is why people who don't know this tend to be conspiracy nutcases - they lack the intelligence to use logic.

No I'm not messing about. I know what you're saying as per definitions of theory...and the reason it is still theory in the truest sense of the word is the observations themselves take their starting point from unproven theories; eg, Einstein's, and Darwin's theories are based on the big bang theory.

I'm almost 50. For 40+ years I used to believe probably the same as you guys. The reason for that was, I dismissed anything to the contrary because I trusted my sources without ever examining them. Then I started to do that. Does that make me a nutcase? From birth we are constantly being told to trust sources above our own senses or intuition...and it works, because most people blindly accept the mainstream and only give a cursory amount of attention to any alternative.

People easily accept that a person would lie for a few quid...but find it hard to believe that politicians and corporations will lie when there are £billions at stake. Which makes more sense to you?

I don't think there is anything more to say. What makes more sense to me is evidence. I'll just point out something though - every time a rocket is tested it deposits a payload of up to the SAME weight as a car in space. It is never actually a car though. Elon thought it would be fun. But I'm guessing you don't believe any rockets have ever been in to space anyway. Honestly the mind boggles but I have learnt in my 45 years that it is pointless trying to reason with the unreasonable. Reality doesn't care about your feelings or your self-imposed ignorance. I'm not going to continue the argument because there is no point. There are plenty of sources for proof but I suspect you don't want to do any research - much easier to believe a conspiracy. How about this - it's only a 1m clip. Does this sound reasonable to you? Since Apollo, man has never been more than 400 miles from the earth...because we can't / don't know how? Is that logical to you? Do you know of any other area where man has gone drastically backwards?
Whatever 'theory' you want to consider...(maths, science, philosophy) they have their starting point, or utilise an unproven, therefore whatever follows, must be theory.
