Vote Invincible!

Invincible may take the odd argument to far on the forum but he genuinely does seem to love domains and always seems to be at nominet public events and engaging with policy discussions etc so would probably make a great board member.

Don't have many domains on my TAG but you have my vote for what its worth
If there's any strategy that can help in terms of choice of second preference etc might be worth saying so here

How do you feel about dropcatching? would you like to help influence a change or start a discussion regarding the current .uk domain expiry process

I may be wrong, but I think I have read before that you don't like the current system.

This is why you need to put David FIRST on the ballot paper (see numbers in bold):

Voting rights: http://www.nominet.org.uk/sites/default/files/voting_rights_nominet_2015.pdf

Unless you want everything controlled by large registrars...

The voting numbers quoted above, are they pretty much it, or do the people with the big numbers have connections to other people also?

I only ask as I've just been shown a calculation based upon people who will probably vote for David, and he has over 400,000, would that give him a chance?

The largest registrars (those with 10% of all votes) are subject to a 3% cap.

See 4.3 on: http://www.nominet.org.uk/sites/default/files/58367_votingrightspolicy17052012_0.pdf

In the 2014 election 397 members voted:

http://www.nominet.org.uk/sites/default/files/NominetAGM2014ElectionsPopularis_2.pdf

However you need to get over the quota at 479,246 to win

3% of stage 1 total 1,437,735 = 43,132

So you need 11.1 large registrars to get over the quota (33.3%)

In reality though you might only get say five large registrars to vote for you (Dickie has three already) and the rest of the vote is made up from 386 other members

A lot of domainers have voting rights around 5k - 20k therefore you only need a few of those to counter one large registrar or 50 votes like that to hit the quota

So if say you have someone getting votes as follows, which are under the 10% all the votes count

eg

200,000 from 1 member
100,000 from another
40,000 from another all these count, as well as the multitude of other members making up to say 400,000?

I know Invincible hates my dumb questions, but it is interesting and not everyone can compute things in the same way.

I've been told he will get in but I just can't see how if the big 3's second votes are for each other?

Hitting the quota in each stage is the most important thing to win...

The quota is around 450,000 votes

However no registrar can have more than 45,000 votes

So you need at least 10 large registrars or a mixture of smaller ones to make 450,000

How many invincible supporters would likely hit the limit. Are the TAG counts now already taken and if it was something the supporters were comfortable with. Is there any scope to move surplus domains on to trusted members TAGS temporally to boost there voting power

The voting rights are calculated on a set date - 25th March 2015 this time:

http://www.nominet.org.uk/whoweare/structure/members/members-voting-rights

Therefore this is it and it won't change:

http://www.nominet.org.uk/sites/default/files/voting_rights_nominet_2015.pdf

No Domainer will be in the Top 20 registrars and therefore hit the cap (I've checked).

However many of you on this forum have big votes:

Giant Games Ltd 16911
ANY-Web Limited 21376
Mark Adams 18019
Nokta Internet Teknolojileri Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. 17551

There are two large registrar 3% votes right there....

These are the Acorn members I can see on the voting rights list...

If anyone has a working email / username please let David know.

As Nominet will only give out a snail mail address for members :)

They called me today but I said I had already voted.

Sounds like they could do with a bit more training...

I was once snubbed by them when I suggested that Nominet, who manage all uk domains should be regulated to ensure a fair and transparent operation, because some of their policies are backwards...they didn't like that!

I was busy when they phoned me, they asked if I was planning to vote, I said yes. They didn't ask who for, it was recommended I vote to pass the ordinary resolutions, and read the boards recommendation or statement before voting, then then gave me the dates 31st may and I think 16th June, as was mega busy but thats the gist.
