I had been thinking about celebrating with a nice steak and a bottle of red but I guess that works too...

I'm thinking of selling a kit
Payday Loan
Box of hankies
bunch of Grapes

With so many days passed, I feel that;
.uk will not be scrapped
neither will .uk be introduced in the method of the last proposal.

That only leaves either changes to fix things like the short auction problem, the reserved names, pricing and maybe a total rethink to enable "automatic" rather than or "opt in" etc.

OR a larger rethink about making.uk for business again as per the first proposal and some sort of grandfathering of .co.uk domains?

I would think an update promised for early November would have been released by now or in any event by the end of the first week of November.
Any further delay is adding insult to injury.

The storm meant sand bag filling and Flack Jackets were delayed but many made productive use of there time filling in present list to the bonus fairy? I mean objectively weighing up the pros and cons of a new cctld :D

Would they put a release out on a friday then close for the weekend? I don't think they would, surely they'd sit on it till the Monday?

That's the most likely situation. A release this Friday, after 4pm – so they don't get phone rage. Give people the weekend to cool down.

Whatever they decide, it isn't going to please everyone.

Last time they put out a news release the day after the Board meeting. The silence this time must mean "something". For instance...

- Goes ahead -> loads of people get angry (again)
- Third consultation -> ditto, but at a slightly lower level of anger
- Gets canned -> crowing and catcalls, gloating and vindication

There is NO scenario in which Nominet will come out smelling of roses, it's just a question of whether they will be a bit whiffy or stinking to high heaven. Therefore there's a strong logic to punting the news out the back door on Friday evening and then heading for the pub.

I wonder whether they are retrospectively struggling with justifying quoracy. From their Nominet biographies at http://www.nominet.org.uk/whoweare/structure/board-members I assume that Thomas, Sebastien and Dickie clearly had to withdraw from the discussion and the vote : that leaves only 7 out of 10. Couple that with the pragmatic reality of timing a board meeting for what for many was half term week (I know nothing of the personal circumstances of the board) and I wonder whether they were actually able to achieve quoracy for the vote. Article 37 requires four directors for quoracy with article 39 disqualifying those with interests. Anything breaching the combined effect of articles 37 and 39 would presumably be a major breach of corporate governance and any such decisions would presumably not be enforceable.

I think they'd have had to establish quoracy before the agenda was even started, otherwise the meeting couldn't have proceeded.

They may have been quorate for the overall meeting but not that agenda item. Anyway I'm just idly speculating while we wait !

failing badly in their last objective

In the 18th June 2013 Nominet press release.

http://www.nominet.org.uk/news/press-releases/evolving-uk-domain-name-space

as well as saying security issues would be addressed for the UK namespace via "security roadmap" which has not yet been published

Nominet’s agenda for the coming months comprises: a proposed addition to the product range by opening up registrations at the second level of .uk (i.e. www.example.uk); a new contract with registrars aimed at raising standards, and a programme to enhance security across the namespace.

Nominet also said they would try to improve communications with members?

The company is also focused on improved member communications and is seeking member support for governance changes that it believes will create an improved Board structure moving forward.

Well based on the delay on proving the October board minutes and what happened at the AGM, .uk consultation process, the lack of a Registrar meeting in 2013, lack of policy meeting in 2013 and now this continual delay in communicating on their .uk decision,
I would say they are failing badly in their last objective.

What delay? They said they would report back in early November. We're still in the first third of the month, no need to worry just yet.

If Nominet announce next week, you will find that Nominet are preparing for;

ICANN No. 48: 17-21 November 2013 Buenos Aires, Argentina

and will not be able to respond to .uk
or registrar agreement
or security
questions next week and the week after that they will be Argentina.

I do not see why Nominet should not release the information soon after the decision which was made on 29th October 2013,
I simply don't see the downside to Nominet in publishing the decision and the feedback now.

If they don't release relevant information today, then Monday is the 11th and you struggle to rate that as early November.

Either way it will be bad news.

No go, then when in the future?

To proceed, disruptive.

Looks like Monday at the earliest then - no way they are putting it out after 3pm on a Friday then immediately closing for the weekend surely.
