September .uk drop discussion

Someone needs to contact Nominet and get a domain lock put on these before they are sold and it gets even messier.

Imagine buyers paying for these over the next 24 hours and then getting them clawed back, which they will.

Its clear people transferring names that aren't theirs and changing the registrant details are in the wrong, so its not like anyones throwing stones.

Ant who runs it is a good guy to be fair, has always been helpful.

Ant is @DomainAngel if other posts on this forum are accurate, I'd check your names ;)

It was a joke about you transfering other peoples names to yours, nothing more.

pcc.uk just got renewed and that was Domain Monster, not Fasthosts. Has the same "Nominet was able to match the registrant's name and address against a 3rd party data source on 11-Sep-2020" date of today (rather than normal renewals that don't check against this; fi.uk for example). Perhaps the whole system is broken, but we already knew that.

Last minute renewals are not something new. Please stop jumping to conclusion on every domain that gets renewed.
Whenever a domain changes registrant or the registrant details are updated that message will have today's date. Here is an example I just did to prove this:
https://www.nominet.uk/whois/?query=felix.uk

We've all renewed domains on the day of the drop, some 10+ hours into the day of the drop. That is our right whilst the domain is still registered to us and it has not dropped. It is nobody else's right to decid whether or not I'm going to drop that name and take those extra hours away from us.

I am not saying I agree with what he has done.

When does someone's right to renew their domain end? apparently DomainAngel can decide for you and cut it short to what they see fit

Would you condone them transferring your names hosted with them to themselves?

It's theft

Renewals in their simplest form just update the date and don't require a 3rd party confirmation of registrant details though. In your example, the domain was freshly caught and therefore required that check. Might be nothing, in fact, I'm illustrating a point that it isn't just Fasthosts that might, or might not be doing similar.

I'm not critiquing anyones methods, its cowboy season more so than ever with Nominet seemingly caring less and less, Nominet will take the names back at some point (or not) and it will be all swept under the rug, I cant be arsed to make a fasthost account this evening so good luck to all that do.

All about intent. And it was not my intent to steal anything and have not done so. Funny how I announce something prove it and catalogue and be transparent about everything but I’m the bad guy.

the party attending domainers must be having a right old laugh.

I'd just leave it as it is if I were you. I really wouldn't be saying anymore on here. Call Nominet and explain what you have done and why you did it.

I'm not a domainer, but thought I'd look at a few domains after realising there's tons dropping at the moment. Then I saw something weird happen with a last minute renewal so thought I'd log on here to ask you how common it is to see domains getting renewed several hours into their drop day. Turns out it's all explained here!

you should hang around..... shit like this is happening all the time :) Bring popcorn

Man... Neeearly did it. Cant though. Seems too easy and fundamentally wrong as far as I can see. There's a difference between having a technical advantage through hard work and just plain nicking stuff. Just saw another one i was after "renewed" on fasthost.

Can I just say aswell @DomainAngel was the one who outed this was he not ? Don't shoot the messanger. Seems he's been pretty open about it all.
