Yes. There's also the outcome of the independent model review due at some point in the near future. I'm keenly awaiting it all.

Nominet are all over the place, their new buy one get one free promotion is not a bad idea but the way it's to promoted is daft.

Saying ultimately it will not be possible for all registrars just shows only the big guys have been spoken to yet again.

I'd like to see the general membership asked about how they would market domains and what promotions would help etc

If nominet plan to move the UK domains into more of a reseller position as with Wales Cymru they need to be transparent and stop trying to build brand nominet.

The only thing nominet should be doing in the UK namespace is fixing the problems it's already created and spending some of that huge pot of money getting advice on how to successfully lead with .uk but keep the co.uk prominent.

Not that I'd like it myself but best thing nominet could do to guarantee its income and position would be to GIVE away the dot UK to every rights holder for one year. Not let them wait four more years but give them away now with a free year. Next year they will see a huge revenue surge with renewals.

If not they will still win when possibly millions of domains are free and they can market the availability to a new generation.

Having written it and about to post I think the giving away of the UK to rights holders for a year is a great idea for nominet, it would allow them to move forward instead of waiting four years to say hmmm what now lol

As explained before, hardly anyone clicks on sig links, so it would be futile for that purpose. Signature link building is a futile technique, I post to help people or for discussion, no other reason. Frankly lately I'm wondering why I bother and will probably not make such an effort in future.

Actually I am trying to help an inexperienced member with an appraisal request. Rather than criticise my efforts, why don't you offer an appraisal yourself?

Yes, I noticed that, but chose not to comment at the time.

If you don't agree with my appraisals, then the solution is to offer your own (and in your own words too). I am attempting to help others, I could do without the constant criticism. I will probably continue to attempt to help the courteous users on this forum, it's unlikely I will attempt to help anyone who is unprofessional and/or offensive.

True, but through-traffic from this site will always be low, but Google recognition etc is what you are aiming for! Why not remove your signature links if they offer no value?

I'm not aiming for anything, you're just making your own assumptions. I'll decide on my own signature in accordance with the forum rules, thank you. Providing I am complying with forum rules, it's not for you to comment on. As you might gather from this post, I have had enough of some of your comments, which are erring towards personal attacks and against forum rule 5. So, keep that in mind when making your posts in future.

Not sure how suggesting you remove links is a personal attack but ermmmm, ok!

Just received threats from accelerator via PM too (I feel privileged!). Believe he's been banned from other sites too for similar reasons (admin take note).

A small group of Acorners has been making offensive and derogatory comments on my threads for months. I have been big enough to ignore it up to now, but today I have had enough, so I will start reporting users if it continues.

We'll see how Admin deals with it. Hopefully, he'll give people a few warnings first and not ban them straight away. I'm sick of the offensive and unprofessional comments. If Admin doesn't deal with this decisively, i.e. stamp it out, which it should be, I doubt I'll be posting here for much longer.

Looking at recent sales, it's evident to me that the big money in domains is now only made with .com. Therefore, a simple technique to make more money would be to forget about .co.uk and to focus only on .com. Discuss.

No, I didn't mean that, just meant that you never use to shy away from a debate/discussion...I miss that side of you...I fear in your new official capacity you are having to be more careful what you say to Nominet members, kind of a personal censorship decision which is a shame.
