Seeing as Accelerator's post was deleted...

Post #27 is where you have quoted your original offensive language, it still needs removing.

Have you ever consider the notion that you're being wound up and the person you're arguing with might not be as horrified as you believe? You're possibly just being baited into exploding on here for entertainment purposes. If so, you're biting.

(from iPhone)

Something needed to be done about Accelerators threads, I couldn't agree more with what Frank has said, ultimately if someone posts crap (Accelerator) and it winds people up and we tell him what we think of him and he can't take it it's his own fault!

If the "rules" are that we can't voice our opinion then Admin may as well delete my account

Given his posting history I doubt very much I am being wound up, and I also had no intention of making anyone feel horrified; I only posted what I was thinking and nothing more (I am unsure if you saw the other thread which got deleted after he reported me for being offensive)

I have no intention of exploding for entertainment purposes either; I would only consider it biting if I believe he was a troll; however at this current time I do not

I've always seen it as a place for UK domainers to meet, share experiences and knowledge, Nominet stuff, new UK TLD such as the .UK and .WALES launches etc.

Ideas what to do with domains or try to sell them to each other or end users.

Use of Domain tools or scripts like FSB recently and Wordpress.

What I want to change is the members bashing each other and using my time and theirs more constructively on a Sunday.

Admin

OK, second chance to remove the original and anywhere you quoted it. Then it gets reported to the moderators. You can't say I'm not giving you fair warning.

Just out of interest (and this is a genuine question)

Was it my use of language, what I actually said OR both which caused you offence?

What was bothering me is that people feel fit to say I shouldn't be posting stuff, when they aren't posting anything themselves, i.e. there is a lack of discussion material. I do not like being told by someone what I should or shouldn't post, it's a free country after all, and forums are for discussion, why else are you visiting them???

hmm I know a very easy way this would be sorted

Like said.............root cause. Having well respected long term members "retiring" is a real shame when it seems most "bashing" is the result of one particular member on the troll in most occasions.

When was the last time said member posted something and you didnt facepalm.

I feel threads that other members find annoying would fade into the background if more interesting content was being posted here. Failing that there is the block member feature although it doesn't hide their quoted material.

(from iPhone)

That's part of the problem, because the thread count is low these ones stick out much more. If we could have more relevant content I doubt people would even notice them or bother to comment.

Admin

The best trolls are those where others aren't sure whether they're trolling or serious. :)

Very true.

I didn't see the other thread. I realise you have no intention of horrifying anyone and I also don't believe the other party is as offended as they state. It looks to me like he could be stringing the issue out in order to get more rises out of you. If he was genuinely offended then a single private message to you and admin referencing the posts would be sufficient as a complaint.

(from iPhone)

I see your point too; look on the bright side, it has breathed more life into this forum if nothing else (albeit not targeted life)

I am going to leave this thread shortly, because I must get on with something more constructive. All I have requested is that people are professional and that's it really. My attempts to start some decent discussion in the Business section have encountered some complaints. I seriously don't know why you wouldn't want to see these to discuss, and I do wonder whether it's by a vocal minority that just like being critical. However, I have decided it's for the best that I stick only to domaining stories from now on, if I see one, so I will just restrict it to that and leave Acorn an even quieter place than it already is. You can't blame me for trying though, but I will just move on from it.

Admin people are bashing each other because the co.uk/uk domain industry is at an all time low. People are realising that they have little or no hope to sell or develop what they have for the unrealistic expectations that most have. I've been in the industry now for 12 years and have seen the cycles on other domain forums. What these people don't realise is that it's a buyer's market at the moment. It's a shame for members to turn on each other but it is part of the inevitable cycle of join the industry, sink or swim, give up or persevere. I would probably just close any thread that turns unprofessional.

I guess many will be wondering if you've spend so much time posting news articles (not your own) on countless forums if you couldn't include your signature links? Remove those signature links and keep posting...

PS - you do realise that direct messages to domainseller200 don't count towards your link bait don't you? ;)

The trouble is there isn't a great amount of active discussion on important areas such as domain values, script use etc because ultimately we are all competing against each other. You wouldn't find F1 drivers giving each other tips of how to take a corner, yet they all get on well enough. When members all operate in the same competitive market, it does prevent free discussion by its very nature!

That's true to a level but I have found some members to be very generous with their time and knowledge to help others in the past, except when it comes to catching of course!

I just re-read my post and it seems a bit negative. Note I did say '...unrealistic expectations...'. There is still plenty of money to be made in the industry - people cause themselves failure. I had a post on another forum requesting some domains and the ridiculous prices people responded with shows that this is the same across all extensions.

Because WE feel as though nominet have their own agenda. The little man is ignored, and lately so are the big boys.

As for the communiqué, the only bit I was interested in was

The Board were updated on a branding refresh planned for the autumn which will include a new website. Further market testing and discussion with members will continue over the summer.

Didnt they only just refresh the branding ? and my dear god, how much shit are they going to make the site. Maybe some flashing gifs and marques ?

Why do many Nominet policy issues attract so little interest on this forum?

Isn't this all moving off topic.
Perhaps you could start a new thread
