Google doesn't give a shit if you link to a PR2 bingo site from your PR5 design blog. The bingo site will still get the benefit.

But less benefit than if you link to a PR2 bingo site from your PR5 bingo blog, wouldn't you agree? I don't think relevancy is overrated, if you can't get a link on a relevant site then sure - get a link from an irrelevant site - but always go after relevant links wherever possible.

I would always go for quality before relevancy. Relevancy is a nice bonus, don't get me wrong, but quality is what gets the results.

Obviously it depends on the age and type of site as well.

The froginawell site was using a country based 301,very clever.
The reason these sites are showing is because the hackers changed certain words with keywords,eg frog to payday loans but it was coded so on visiting the page you would not see it.These guys are pros.
The guy who owned the site got offered £500 a day to change the name of the re-direct to another site and refused it........
