Yawn.....

Can we move this somewhere else away from other people trying to sell domains!

Its oldest reg - the .co.uk dropped in November so doesnt qualify?

No mate, any .co.uk that was registered/existed on 28/10 wins, that right stays with the domain even if it's dropped and re-registered.

It's not oldest reg.

If the .co.uk was still registered on 28 October 2013 it is the only game in town. There is no such thing as "second place" in V3.

From Edwin:

The only question which Nominet have to clarify is whether a "suspended" .co.uk domain can get the rights to the .uk. In other words, if the .co.uk was registered-but-expired on 28 October 2013, did it acquire the rights to the .uk?

My instinct is "yes" since Nominet's V3 is very pro-.co.uk, but I'd like to see confirmation from them before being 100% sure on that point.

What happens if the domain with the rights to .uk, among the non-co.uk clashes, drops between 28th Oct 2013 and launch?
The right to the .uk is lost.

That's for non .co.uk domains:

What happens if a contested .org.uk and a .co.uk exist on the 28th of October (so the .co.uk gets the right to the .uk), but between then and the launch the .co.uk drops and is registered by someone else – who gets the right to the .uk?

The new .co.uk registrant gets the right to the .uk.

Yes, that means that if the .org.uk was the one with the right, it loses the right permanently since if you read the other answers on that page, you'll see that it's impossible for a .org.uk to gain the right after 28 October 2013 (and therefore to regain the right if it drops).

Only a .co.uk can do so (under certain circumstances).
