Making a Domain earn £1 a week

A little tip for getting a few nice links to your mini sites for those of you still reading this thread.

search on bbc.co.uk for your domain eg. domainprices.co.uk

Then link to the search results from a site that gets crawled by google like this Domain Prices

Give it a few weeks and it will show up when you do a search in google for your domain (check these results in a few weeks and see if it is showing)

Hey presto, a nice little link from the BBC :)

Works with loads of other great authority sites that have web search too ;)

Great tip Paul. Unfortunately the sites i wanted to do this for can't be found by the BBC search :(. I will try it with a few other authority sites though and see how I get on.

Nice tip Paul.

I'll try it for my Mildew site.

JWM, your sites will eventually get on the site...

Is there a reliable site for verifying inlinks? I don't find google very reliable and yahoo site explorer i'm sure isn't that accurate either?

yahoo data feeds

We add yahoo search results onto our real sites, this means we can target the keyword, whilst also getting the search results on a site ( you get more cash for these) . If anyone needs an intro then please pm me.

Cheers

Doug

Anybody know of any other 'authority sites' the linking trick can be replicated for?

Thanks
Stephen,

.co.uk's hosted in US

it will rank...but it may be that google one day counts where you host as important also.

Looks like your on already, still waiting for mine to show. Great tip Paul but don't tell everyone all your tips;)

showing up on bbc is easy but will do you little good it's getting that into the G results that takes a little time. ;)

Thats interesting, my site is not on the BBC but it is on the first page of goggle! Does anybody know how you can help the BBC include your site in its search results :-D

I had thought that the search engines dealt with this kind of thing, but maybe that was just the same technique using google and not the the BBC.

Just found this forum. Domain buying and selling not my area (yet), but some nice threads here.

Here's one for you...

a) Original content + time it takes to gather info and write

b) Copied content but get say 5 sites up in the same time

I'd be interested if anyone is a month further down the line with this than me...

cheers

There are no no-follows or no-index tags on the search results at bbc so then we set another search in motion. Should be simple enough.

Original content wins with me, now whether that's previous read and rewritten content that's another issue. But IMO 100% copied probably wouldn't last long unless you were running a scraper, with 100's of feeds on a quick-in quick-out basis.

A month down the line and B would probably be winning, try a 6 months, a year or two, then a will win hands down.

I have 3 or 4 100% copies that are #1 with the G man 2 years on, however nothing beats getting a new site with original text on the first search page inside a week.

Firstly, thanks to everyone for posting in this thread so far - very interesting!

I'm in the throws of developing mini-sites for several domains that are currently parked.

I've read about being penalised by search engines for duplicate content and I'm curious as to what you do if you've got several relavant domains.

So if I've got (eg) cheese-making.co.uk, cheesemaking.co.uk, cheesemanufacture.co.uk and making-cheese.org and I'm targetting people searching for "making cheese":

a) Which one would I use for the mini-site?
b) What would I do with the others - point them to the site, park them or create more mini sites with slightly varied content? Or something else?

Thanks in advance....

Yep, agreed a very good thread.

I'd go for looking at different keywords for cheese making:

cheese making
cheese making equipment
home cheese making
cheese making supply

Develop the sites around these main keywords, and you've got most of the market covered.

Having re-read the post I think you understand what i'm getting at here...

So you're saying develop as many sites as I've got domains, only tweek each one so that it caters for different keywords?
