who wants to donate a domain name?

scenario

a few times I have walked past a food donation basket or a charity shop and wanted to donate a domain name but thought if I did donate a domain they wouldn't know what to do with it or refuse it or sell it for about £3 etc

its about time domain name brokers worked with charities and food banks so that domain name investors can donate domains to charities of their choice and domain name brokers or traditional auction houses sell the domains at no reserve and give the money to the charity of the choice of the domain name investor that donated their specific domain name etc

for this to work we only need two things

A domain name broker prepared to work for free

and

a uk traditional auction house with access to the saleroom online auction platform and be prepared to not charge their commission

lets make a difference

us domain name investors can make a real difference we only have to want to

I think people in need would rather have food and clothes than a domain. Also most domains are worthless so donating them only incurs hassle for the donor. Better just to sell your domain and *then* make a donation using the profits. Why rely on a domain broker or auction house?

List name on flip. If it sells, give money to charity. Simples.

flip seems to be for .co.uk and .uk only and although I am a uk domain name investor I choose to only buy domains that can be sold globally not just uk specific gtlds etc so my domains couldn't be sold on flip

So sell them globally and donate the money. The same thing applies. Any decent domains are very easily sold but most others are worthless. It is those domains that would end up getting donated.

You can donate a domain to charity, but it would have to be a domain immediately useful to them, otherwise it would be more hassle for them and probably won't know what it is worth or how best to use/sell it.
I've recently donated batemans.uk to a charity I've long supported; they didn't really need the domain since they were already using .org.uk but thought it would help them protect their brand; I've advised them of the value should they chose to sell it.
A while ago I donated a caught SEO domain back to the charity that lost it.
I also contacted a number of charities helping victims and families of Grenfell fire to offer to donate grenfell.uk for a good use, but surprisingly nobody got back to me.

all we need to do is find a traditional auction house in the uk that will sell domains for charity or a team of outbound marketers that will make outbound calls or emails marketing a domain name etc as many domain names are never markerted outbound and most domain name investors dont list their domains on domain name marketplaces etc and most domain name investors dont have or use or cant find a domain broker etc or people on here can just list a domain on a thread specifically to be sold to be donated to a charity of their choice by simply posting domain & charity

I was thinking of a more simple process. Simply auction the domain names here or on Flip (somewhere that there aren't fees to be paid) and the money goes into a pot, that pot is given to charity on X date. Why on Earth would we need a traditional auction house, forgive me for being so blunt, but intangible assets are usually not sold at brick and mortar auction houses.
it was only an idea but had a look on flip for the first time a week or so ago but didnt even know that flip existed and ive been buying domains for years but my domains are new gtlds or two keyword .coms and not .uk or .co.uk and none of my domains have hyphens on them which is a uk thing etc but if you can find a global domain name marketpkace like sedo or godaddy etc i am prepared to donate a domain name or two to a charity of my choice
