I suspect it was possibly to send several emails to the automaton, each containing multiple "REQUEST" commands with each domain name merged into a standard template. Also similar via EPP. I didn't try, but someone else will be able to confirm or deny.

I first noticed that google had applied when the applications for g.co.uk were 14, when got about 20 I was amazed people carried on and their applications even though google were in the hunt.
Time will tell.

I emailed the auction firm before booking, boutique and friendly firm. They will ensure multiple bidders have an opportunity to participate in all auctions. So it won't be a case of the whole lot in one day or week.

For the xx time, uncontested will be awarded on the 23rd, contested will go to auctions starting from the 20th July. Domains with no applications will be made available on the 27th
