Is that a serious post? Beyond Facebook and mobile games, what apps are there that are successfully fully replacing websites?
You are right, very few apps are replacing websites. However, I have a hunch though that browsers will eventually drop the url bar and you'll navigate via search, bookmarks...or apps. Just a hunch.

Hi All
Thanks Grant for the stats, has it stood out to anyone else that there are 14 applications for g.co.uk and one of them is google, good luck to the other 13.

How bizarre another 4 applications for g.co.uk since my last post. It also looks like at least three companies have applied for all the .co.uk domains.

This should have been played out like a poker game rather than an auction, once you start bidding, your money stays in the pot if you lose.

Everyone expects the Big G will get the g.co.uk anyway.

I know applications are still coming in for domains where multi nationals with deep pockets have applied.

Everyone expects the Big G will get the g.co.uk anyway.
Perhaps, but why not a professional domain name investor?

I guess those who know the industry will know there's highly successful domainers in at this stage. (Arguably in this case, maybe the most successful ever? ;))

Great stats. Goodluck all, hopefully there will be a lucky few uncontested names awarded June 23.

There is no guarantee that multinationals and Google in this case will pick up the domains they have applied for.

Looking at the stats and application patterns a number of domainers are playing the numbers game and it is unlikely they will go all the way on each auction considering they have applied for hundreds of domains but will inevitably will end up with a large quantity of ll.co.uk.

Google on the other hand are only after a few so they can dedicate their resources to just those few and considering they have millions if not billions for strategic purchases if they are committed then it is pretty much in the bag.

The more the big fish domainers invest in individual auction hopefully the less they have to invest when it comes to the domains I want :)

Just tried to put myself down for 20 domains. Not possible through Web domain manager. You have to do each one separately, they could have said that at the start, hey ho, back through the list to try and remember what I picked up. Poor... This is going to be slow.
