It also takes wire transfers some time to clear, 4-6 days. I would fell robbed if Nominet decided to enforce the 7 days based on the technicality of getting money to them on time.

I have questioned their tolerance on the 7 day terms, no comment is forthcoming.

Out of the first round 49/165 registered (paid for). Who has their fingers crossed for non payers?
Me. I missed out on a few I'd have liked so will be interested in finding out if any go back to auction.

even though they may not have had any intention of paying for it if they had won. Those kind of things site a bit uneasy with me.

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. Perhaps it could have been made clearer that non-payment would be not be tolerated and all legal avenues for payment pursued. But then it would have been argued that it wouldn't have been a good use of Nominet's time/legal resources, and to just re-auction the domain or offer it to the second highest bidder.

At any other serious auction house, if you bid thousands of pounds for an item and won, there would almost certainly be repercussions if you failed to pay, even if they don't chase you for the payment, you may be barred from future auctions.

Finally I won domain I wanted. Have to say, I am very surprised by ignorance of some auction participants. Few do not understand that there is no proxy bids. Most like they do not understand what proxy bid is. As example - pi co uk has received some funny bids. Do not remember what was the exact amount but, the bid looked something like 6,101. On another domain name I was overbid by 5,102. Instead of gaining something they are really showing that they do not know what they are doing.

Because of that, I think there has to be few non payers as well.

BB.co.uk was registered to 'Bafila Mbozo' a few hours ago. Now shows unregistered according to WHOIS.

I wonder if Nominet received a cheque for the domain price + £10k, and sent them back the difference :p
