Does anyone know how to check who is bidding against you? I can't see it with a quick scan of the auction system.

you can't see who is bidding against you. all you see is how many have bid

best way to get some idea is to use the sunrise whois to see how many people are in the auction. but you can't tell how many are being active and who has the highest bid

even bigger wallet required for the .co.uk's

---

An hour since the start, any completed auctions?

My two are at 5 and 7 bids.

Having seen the pricing for .org.uk I'm pretty much reigned to not taking part in the .co.uk auctions - so I'll be shelling out for at least one .org.uk (thankfully the project I have for it suits .org.uk)

Seems to be at least 3-10 times higher average prices on .org.uk auctions compared to .me.uk auctions, and no auctions I participate in are finished yet.

x.me.uk went for £100, not to me.

Beyond me why people are waiting until 10 minutes before the end to place a bid. Proper annoying!

Tactics.. and it worked for this particular domain :)

Some still low as bids going up £10 per bid. My two are currently at £300 when you add the two together, bids coming in at a reasonable speed but having a max bidding system that increments in small amounts would have saved a load of time.

thought i was in the home straight then another 10 comes in during the last 8 minutes... wonderful!!

We are not the audience.

For the average "man in the street" hearing that tens of millions of pounds were spent on some domain names by what will end up being hundreds if not thousands of different entities (rather than a tiny handful of people) might just be the "nudge in the right direction" that was needed to pique their interest in the subject, or at least not to scoff outright at the thought of paying > regfee for a domain in future.

Not too sure about your view on this, I think the lack of publicity from Nominet and the ongoing issues including their ridiculous "Nominet transfer fee" is still keeping a lot of companies away from going for their desired domain and an auction like this will get them less and less interested.

Just like your portfolio of domains (dont mind me saying), there are some great domains but most are heavily overpriced and will never ever appeal to any small business (to which most of your domains would appeal) just because of the prices and the mystery surrounded by them.

Last minute bids are a waste of time though surely? It just extends it, so I'm bidding straight away again. :)

Delay of at least 10 minutes in getting notification e-mails, just as well I'm watching live.

now ive seen it all.... gp.org.uk another bid during the last 20 seconds!!!
