Very sad, been on here as long as I can remember, but never remember him getting involved in any of the tittle tattle and bitching.

RIP

Really sad news :( Going by the quality of his stuff that's dropped recently it would be a shame to see the rest of his portfolio drop when it could raise some cash for his family.

RIP mate.

this is really sad. Wow you cruise, along and then this. Hope everyone takes some energy from this...!

No i have no idea about that except that devolution.co.uk looks to be in the process of renewal ... can only hope that family/friends have renewed devolutions primary domain names .. it's a shame that Nominet only allow a 2 year registration period where-as a .com can be paid up for 10 years in advance .. which is good for somethings such as keeping our name alive in cyberspace after we have gone .. well for 10 Years at least if we choose to pay up in advance ...

Going by what's dropped over the past week or so I'm guessing most haven't been renewed.

RIP Matt; we should all remember those things we mean to do, but never get around to. It can all go in an instant.

The thought of picking up his domain names on the drop seems wrong somehow. A auction sounds a smashing idea, if organised well.

Thats 2 from the forum. Chris is it worth asking his mum if she wants a valuation of his domains/sites? to get her some money for them rather than they drop? i know my missus wouldnt have a clue.

I agree. This business was obviously one of his passions, and it would be fitting to have this approach rather than letting his domains drop.

I never dealt with Devolution directly, but found his posts very useful. My thoughts are with his family.

Maybe an acorn member who knew Matt could give Nominet a call to request a "do not cancel" status is set on his names until his family can get his affairs in order?

I'm not sure if Nom would but no harm in trying.

It's possible that devolution.co.uk has the autorenew flag set since it's with 123-REG and we know how they like to keep peoples card details. It might just have been renewed. Maybe not.

Still, better since we probably know what's going to drop, to flag these up. Maybe Nominet can put a suspension block on these.

Sad another one from the community goes. Shows what has been mentioned before that we need to leave some safeguards in place for those left to pick up the pieces.

Terrible news, my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Thank you for informing us Chris.

My condolences to family and friends.

I do use Devolution's bulk checker daily, a superb program.

I tried to PM you but there is a DB problem. I dealt with Matt about 5 years ago and that particular domain is registered under his company (synergy....uk). If you or anyone else is in touch with his family, please let them know about it.

I had about 3 inquiries for it while the transfer paperwork was going through - so I am guessing it will be pretty valuable.

Thks

I had a few PM's and theres some questions about Matts domain estate. I dont know anything regarding Matt's domains.

I only found at as I was chasing some old invoices and posted them to his address where his mum emailed me to tell me the situation. I did offer her help if she needed but this was only late yesterday. I will give her a little time and maybe hopefully sort something through Acorn.

I did a prss lookup and theres around 700 .uk Which is easy for us to help with but I also think Matt has alot of .com etc as well. Which I would not know where to begin in offering assistance.

I have seen in the past month a few "Matt Warne" domains dropping (from memory reg. dates circa 2003).

If there's no joy with the Nominet route I'd be happy to try and secure as many of these as possible and flagging them as 'booked' for Matt's family - any chance of someone posting a list from PRSS or making it otherwise available? Chris, I'll follow your lead on this one mate. Maybe we can get other catchers to help.
