Would you register .Wales and .Cymru domain names ?

Current registration count according to namestat.org:

.wales 7262
.cymru 3490

Just from my own searches, I had thought that .cymru would have had a lot less than ~half the number for .wales so I found the number quite surprising.

I'd like to know what percentage of .cymru resolve to anything beyond a parking page or nothing at all. Wouldn't be too difficult to take the zone file and see.

Yeah me too, and likewise for .wales. Would also be interesting to see how many domains are registered to a registrant who only registered that one domain i.e. more likely to be an end user rather than a domainer who would probably go for >1 name.

to the list of live .Wales it took longer than an hour. It has a PayPal payment gateway. Just submit details, make a payment, job done!
It will need some back link and marketing love, but hey its all good !

Judging by the .cymru sites in Google's index, it's a pretty even spread between Welsh language names and English ones. I suspect .cymru is going to occupy a similar position to that which .org.uk had against .co.uk (before .uk muddied the waters).

In other words it has its own use as an extension, just as non-profits deliberately chose .org.uk names, but also in a wider sense it has value as a 2nd choice to people who can't get the .wales equivalent, either because it's not for sale or they don't want to cough up whatever the owner wants for it.
