Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question; who'd be interested in purchasing a simple domain parking script where you set the nameservers of your domain to point to your own custom nameservers, add the domain name to the script, and the domain will then resolve to a parked page where you can have your own ads and/or contact/offer form?

Not sure about a price yet, but it'll be alot cheaper than any current custom domain parking solution!

Server Requirements: CPanel, PHP and MySQL

I'd appreciate it if you could post below to register your interest, and if there's enough interest to warrant coding it, i'll do it! :)

so basically a contact page? i think they're around for free

No, not basically a contact page. Please re-read the post :)

Say you have the nameservers ns1.mydomain.co.uk and ns2.mydomain.co.uk, you would then set the nameservers of your domain, myparkeddomain.co.uk, to these nameservers and add it to the script.

From then on, when anyone visits myparkeddomain.co.uk they see your parked page. Have you ever used a domain parking service such as Sedo for example? It would be like that.

Please visit http://www.cellblock.co.uk for an example.

Kind Regards,

Craig

Sounds very complicated when all you need to do is create a template page stored on your own server and simply forward the domain to that chosen page...! Thats all I do...I do the same with Sedo.

That's fine, there's nothing wrong with that, but the people who have PM'd me appreciate the value of parking domains this way. I understand that it isn't for everybody. :)

Kind Regards,

Craig

For somoene who has no idea whatsoever what the advantages are - are they easy to spell out without getting too technical?

Hi Suzi,

Sure :)

Here are a couple of advantages I can think of:

- Integration with other services through the use of API's e.g. when you add a new domain to the system, you can choose to tweet the domain name and price (if you wish to sell it) to your twitter account, with a link back to the domain name through a shortened bit.ly (more info) link that is automatically created by the script and added to your bit.ly account so you can see how many clicks it receives.

- You have total control over your domains and their parking page, and if you add AdSense or a similar service to the parked page, you keep all the revenue rather than just getting a share of it.

- Features such as a bulk upload facility can be added, so that you can feed a CSV (more info) file into the script and all the domain names will be added, and marked as parked/for sale etc as required.

I hope those responses are sufficient and easy to understand. If you have any questions please PM me and i'll answer them within the thread so everyone can see the answers.

Kind Regards,

Craig

OK - some more basic questions:

So would each domain have its own parking page - or do they share one?

Would the header show the correct URL?

Would the content be domain specific?

Sorry if these seem like obvious questions. I know a little bit about domains, but very little about scripts and web design etc ;)

They would share a parking page, but the parking page could show domain specific content if that's what you'd like.

Do you mean the browser address bar? If so, yes it would.

Kind Regards,

Craig
