And that is exactly WHY its not the best there. Googlemaps is where most people go. IMO, maps.co.uk has had its day, and that was 8 years ago.

Trainers.co.uk is the one for me, regular income of that one for sure.

I agree that trainers.co.uk is a great domain. I think most of us would also love to have maps.co.uk in our portfolio. I can see Edwin making a big sale with this one day. It's not all about online maps. I'm surprised that someone like stanfords.co.uk haven't approached him. Or perhaps Ordnance Survey. Traditional paper maps are big business too and I'm one of those people who loves looking at maps - local maps, world maps, relief maps, old maps - whatever map - I love them :)

It's not for sale (unless it's for REALLY STUPID money) as it's the cornerstone of my geo network project, along with Britain.co.uk :)

Love carinsurancequotes.co.uk nigel, hard to rank but will do very well for someone.

My top ones would be:

mobilephonedeals//co//uk (designed but not built)
laptopcomputers//co//uk
mega.co.uk
travelsite.co.uk (+ travel geos)

Knowing me i'll probably sell a couple of them and buy other things to design so that list could change:)

But it is all about online maps isn't it? We all carry a complete electronic map in our pockets on a daily basis. Why do we need a paper version when Google can take you right into street view?

Google win for me here.

Could do a roaring trade in sat nav sd cards and upgrades. At the end of the day people still buy paper maps.

Only time ive ever bought a paper map is when ive turned up somewhere without a clue where I was and bought one from a petrol station as I had no phone signal. I sure as heck didn't order one from the internet and wait three days for delivery :p

A nice name regardless, but the best here? Not by a massive margin.

I'm sure this isnt what Edwin has planned for maps.co.uk but there is a huge market for paper maps.

Walking is massivly popular and they still use paper maps which arent too cheap either at around £14 a pop.

I dont walk anywhere further than the kitchen but I know people do like to strut about still:)

every new place I go in the world where I drive I get a regional paper map delivered before I go... satnavs fail. Get broken, get stolen etc etc. Paper maps get wet... thats about the worst that happens :)

Sat navs are a little like calculators you can get to where you want to go but you don't know how you got there. Take either away and your up the swanee.

I know what Lee is saying and he ain't saying it's a bad name. He's merely saying it used to be better.

When I first started, every sodding driver had a map in their car. Can't really remember the last car I got in that had one.

antique maps go for fortunes. lots of collectors

site 'could' cater for everything

hhmmmm

well all i can say is i prefer maps

gps gets you lost or stuck in traffic

get a better sense of direction with a map or is it i am just old school :p

Actually it's called Best of the Net, 1000 sites you need in your life.
It's like a thick magazine, says £14.99 but I paid half that in wh smiths.
techradar.com is their site.

your number 2 on the magazine subscriptions section has a screenshot and the following blurb
"offering over 13,000 different special offers promoted on the site at the time of going to press. Plus a ton of magazines for you to choose from. This is definately a good place to hunt down a subscription or two."

Cheers Andy, great to hear, I'll keep an eye out for it!

I would say,

Pushchairs.com designed/under development
Southampton.com underdevlopment
Travelsurance.com - just picked it up on the drop but believe its perfect brandable domain for travel insurance,

Some great domains there.
I've got nothing to offer that comes close.
