What's your IQ?

Age doesnt seem to be an issue:

British Mensa welcomed Elise Tan-Roberts to Mensa in April, and at 2 years and 4 months she became Mensa’s youngest ever member.

All very nice, but where does a two year old get 40 notes from?!
Not from a comparsion with you Rob, so rest easy Fella..

Mensa membership is never by self-diagnsois. Read up my friend and get a life.

If you'd bothered to run your mouse over the initial link, you'll see it is not Mensa, its an on-line quizz, and you wont bother like I didn't. No intention to go there. Learn to read yourself.

People who feel the need to brag about tenuous links to MI5 on the internet (like you), or being members of Mensa back in 1976 (like you), or who are unable to distinguish light humour in posts compared to serious criticism (like you) are not best placed to advise others (like me) to get a life. Get a reality check, lad and stop being so touchy!

I can absolutely guarantee that you, and only you, will jump on any aspect of any of my posts the minute you see the slightest opportunity to do so. If you're trying to prove how smart you are with me, don't bother.

I did the supervised Mensa IQ test some years ago, after scoring in the 130s in the 'school' supervised test, but I didnt make membership after the sup'd one :(

Out of 1400 or so pupils there was 20 odd who scored in the same 'band' as me and did the supervised test. A few I knew made it into mensa a few I didnt know. One went onto work for BT in its IT departmment, the other went onto work for EA on its game engines after writing one for his uni thesis. Not heard from either for a while tho.

I do remember a bit about one of the tests tho, There was a set of questions on the test that I remember as my mind was just going BLAH, you dummy!

Was something like:

if a bath tub holds 50 liters of water, each of the taps full on fills the bath at 16 liters per minute, the plug when released will allow 22 liters of water minute minute out.

If the bath had 40 liters in it, 1 tap was full on and the plug was out, how long would it take for the bath to empty.

If both taps was on, the bath was empty, and the plug was removed, how would it take to fill up ?

If the plug is out, there is 10 liters in the bath, both taps are on for 30 seconds, the plug is removed, how many liters will be lost before the bath is filled ?

Was stuff like that and mind was just like 'yeah whatever'.

I will jump really high on you, you dunce. Go fuck yourself - you seem to pick up on things you cant do, i'll give you a TRIPLE tap. Go start as a 'special' cocksucker.... In reality, you don't know me - so don't pretend to augment your personality by being a clever twat... People that know me here may cringe with my language but they know I'm not a bullshitter. So now I stand as a govenment (MI5) genius (IQ Eysanck147) -- you fancy parrying with me, you goofy liitle twat?

I know what you are.

A bully!

Skinner has actually nailed it. Intelligence is a 'capacity for knowledge', not a prior database store.

All this constant public bickering (this thread is just the latest example, seems to have been going on a lot recently - not to mention the juvenile and pointless abuse heaped on Nominet in every thread about them) on the most visible discussion forum covering the .co.uk market is VERY bad for the UK domain industry's image.

If you don't care about the industry, there's nothing I can do, I guess. But then why are you bothering to participate on Acorn?

If on the other hand you do care even a little tiny bit (it should be obvious that the industry's interest and your own self-interest go hand-in-hand) then for goodness sakes, stop all the trash-talking right now, PERMANENTLY!

Let's stay focused on domain names, eh?

Not sure we are that powerful mate, I doubt us arguing on here and Nom-steer can bring down it down.

More Gaviscon, Dale ...

I never bothered much about this IQ stuff. I've been a classified genius since I took the 11+ and won a scholarship to a premier league public school. I had my IQ tested when I was about 19, and the tester couldn't get an accurate answer because I was off the top of his graph, over 175 was all he could say ...

WTH, I'm still the pykie off the council estate, whatever the state of my brainpower.

It took me a while to realise that I should have studied medicine, because I found out in my first year of "undergraduate study" that the lecturers were more concerned with neat handwriting than anything else. I lost a lab book, and wrote another in a hurry by copying my mate's, which was all As and Bs. I got mainly Ds and Es for the same data and more information.

I spent time practising my handwriting, and got much higher marks the year after. The year after that, I tried another strategy ... copying my aforesaid mate's dress style.

If you want to succeed academically, wear a shirt and tie all the time, and write neatly. As long as you don't write total rubbish, you will get high marks. But like the IQ score, it is just a way to get into something - intelligence is no measure of "naus" - it won't make you rich. To get rich, you need a good idea, then you need to avoid sharing it with someone that will rip you off. The music biz was like that - you could come out rich if you had the right business support, or get ripped off by a bad manager.

IQ fades with age - I tested myself recently, and I can't beat 140. But I'm still having good ideas ...

When I was 14 I won a IQ test over the phone (I worked out how to cheat it), and won £500

Unfortunately it was a premium rate phone call and the phone bill come through at £650's (took me a few goes to perfect the cheat). Needless to say my parents weren't happy and the cheque soon dissapeared, as well as my pocket money, got my name on teletext though.

Not sure but there is a moral to that story, in fact probably more than 1.

There are only two Mensa verified members on this forum that I know of.

I think a high IQ gives you an ability to 'understand' what you take in, you are able to order it, differentiate parts, and see the whole of it, which inturn allows you to do permitations on the data to come up with something else.

Like for example the nom info on the system to write your own catching script, we can all read the data, but most of us are unable to put it all together to see it as a whole item. Now you can break it down bit by bit and build it anyway but if you had the mental capacity and learned to program with that enhanced capacity then you could very possibly build it many times 'cleaner' than someone else.

Whether cleaner is better is another matter, my programming logic tells me a compiled language would be many times faster than an interpreted language. Experience from someone else has learned this is not the case at all, so inteligence wouldnt really make you better without knowledge and experience in the field. I think this is where many inteligent people fail, they believe that their high iq is a replacement for everything.

Some of the richest people I know are also the dumbest, I know a guy who drives a quadraporte and he can't even write his own name, yet he has an 8 figure bank balance. I know a guy who owned a chain of night clubs, had a good idea that was fully developped, he was smart enough to do it, but ultimately was just too stupid to listen to the experts because he thought he knew better coz he was so smart, he is now in millions of debt, from winning awards for innovation to ruins in 8 yrs.
;
Having the enhanced brain power doesnt mean anything if thats all you have :)

It's as simple as as a 'double take' -- the last one one lingers.

i found that hard, I only got 90 so im below average which would explain why I got so excited when McDonalds gave me my two stars for learning the milkshake machine..

What's Your IQ ? :D

Good brainfood for domainers

Is there any point to all these claims of association with MI5, Special Branch, Official Secrets Act and Mensa?

It's kind of strange to read so many sweary rants here. I have booked DropSystem slots on a couple of occasions (no catches yet!) but these cranky postings have convinced me not to get involved again.

Not wanting to kick a man when hes down, but your application for Peasantsa was also rejected :(

Sorry jules...! ;)

90-109 :)

Usually do quite well at them kind of tests.......... but suppose a 1 year hold trying to help you by banging the keyboard and grabbing the mouse didn't help.

Looks like this thread had threads posted by 1 year olds  (insult to my 1 year old nearly too!!)

Desired effect achieved. It would seem I'm not the only one looking for a rise out of 'P'... :p
