Interesting to note that the "UK’s leading source of unbiased, factual and easy-to-understand information on online safety" is at a .org https://www.getsafeonline.org/about-us/

Can anyone say how a sale and transfer of registrant for the proposed .uk domain would work ?
The new direct.uk service would require re-validation of registrant contact data if an when the domain name is renewed, and also if the domain name is transferred to a new registrant.

Dear Mr Wilde,
Thank you for your email - I am meeting Nominet and may call for a debate in Parliament on the issue.
Best wishes
Stephen
Stephen McPartland
Member of Parliament for Stevenage
It is not over yet, just because the Nominet consultation has closed.
MP who raised the question about .uk proposal in the Houses of Parliament, which was kindly brought onto this thread by Andrew Bennett - www.whois-search.com
I send them my document "What is wrong with the Nominet .uk proposal?" which can be downloaded at ukproposal.org.uk and a few other useful links and he has replied with:
Lets hope he takes it all the way!

Looks like the new registrant would just have to re-validate their address (not to mention the DNSSEC):

Am I the only one who's had their MP give a useful response?
Has anyone else had anything positive from their MP? Perhaps if enough MP's question it there could be further pressure applied (or at least further visibility of the issue)
No I have not even received a reply from MP's I have contacted apart from 10 Downing Street it will be passed on to the relevant department and nothing disappointingly from Ed Vaizey MP of the culture dept overseeing Nominet.
Well done Alex in getting Stephen McPartland MP interested enough to raise the first question as without that and the emails he received he might not have taken it further.
I suggest a few more emails to Stephen McPartland MP from as many people as possible as well as follow up's to our own MP's saying they are not fighting hard enough.
I have had a response from Ed Vaizey, he wrote back to me via my MP last month saying he is happy with the way the consultation is being conducted. So I have gone back through my MP with more specific questions.
Luckily my MP is in the shadow ministry to Ed Vaizey, so he is kind of interested from the start. Especially about rights of people to their IP. An ex Para (can't win em all :lol but he seems to be smart enough not be to spun a load of garbage from anyone.
