You ever tried using that in anger? Patchy at best. Just loves to block you at the slightest whim. It should also be only used to gather full whois details not condensed ones like the DAC.
It's only designed for public facing, not personal use.

well when i spoke to nominet they told me it wouldnt be release until renewal date has passed.
Does this means that lists such as Dropsystems will still be available?

I'm writing to ask that the proposed RealTime DAC limits be reviewed prior to the April launch date and an amendment made to the quota limits to read: 'with a minimum daily registrar quota of 100000'. This may be reviewed/adjusted with 250000 or close to.
As a small registrar who provides a service to 3rd parties while not registering domains from them on my TAG this is at best extremely restrictive and at worst renders any service unworkable. The quota I would receive would be under 10000/day. Hardly touching the 2.5million cap! It seems that the quota has been worked out with an extreme bias towards the big 3 registrars without much thought towards smaller registrars providing a niche service.
This essentially provides a monopoly to existing public facing registrars and provides little options for new enterprises. Using the whois2 is NOT an option. It's flaky at best and should be used to provide full whois details, not condensed ones like the DAC.
This is the mail I've just sent to N
The caught.co.uk backordering service will continue as per normal though.
Great apart from you meant the time delay DAC! The Real Time DAC remains at 432,000 yet has removal of suspended flag etc.
Yes I did... I'm a dork! Already corrected with the big N.
Thanks for being observant!
Our public catching, DAC hosting and drop lists will continue as normal.
I think Andrew raised it on Nomsteer weeks ago but got the same old boys network responses.
It seems that those at Nom have no intention of listening to the PAB nor NomSteer, big shame in my opinion.
Remember that the big 3 have huge votes when it comes to electing people onto the board. So the more Nominet please them, the less chance we have of people like Jim Davies appearing on the board and kicking up a fuss.
But their decisions recently just get stranger and stranger.....
http://www.nic.uk/digitalAssets/28809_PAB52minutes_Sept_07.pdfThe PAB recommends that the Executive develop suitable options to suit the
needs of different segments of the registrar community, but believes that
no registrar should be forced to take a more restrictive option based on
their business model.
is it not because nominet dont like the after sales of .uk domains ? so they will try everything to stamp it out.
I will raise it at the next PAB meeting (my last).
Are you expecting a leaving presentation and gift Andrew - perhaps an engraved vase? Or a tankard?
Hardly enough capacity to query millions of keywords.
I'd hoped to put a public facing service online, but this scuppers it. None of the domains registered through it would be on my TAG but redirected to others e.g 123-reg which this type of quota is extremely biased towards.

The big beef that I have with the change to the real time DAC is the removal of the suspended flag - is it too late to campaign for change!?
