@ Rob how much? And .asia or .cc?

.whatever you want, all 100% hype and certainly better than any form of sliced bread :)

As for the same old people slagging off the new extensions, which out of mobi / eu / me / etc have been a success?

Have any even threatened to come close to the hype?

I think it is irresponsible to encourage the snowball 'investment' in such hyped extensions, which with the change in rules will become more widespread.

Perhaps nipping over to name'pros' might get a better reception to this topic?

Don't get me wrong i'm .com and .co.uk all the way, i don't even touch .org.uk but just taking a little punt, i ordered 10 and will end up with 2 = £30

Not going to lose any sleep over that

Waz : apetcemetery is nothing to do with me, it's my dads ;)

This whole thread is turning into a debate !!!

At the end of the day we all do are own thing 8)

Agreed - thats the key thing, have a punt and you cant go wrong.

Claims of 'investing' and hyping it up to others is wrong.

Wisdom

norman wisdom is bigger than jesus in algeria ill have you know.

im glad you all agree with me that .tel domains are in fact an excellent investment. i look forward to selling them back to you at a profit.

barrack obama stands for change, and so does .tel.

how much for the beans?

£10 per bean, sold in tins of a few hundred.

Its the best tinned food ever, and makes roast dinners looks like chips.

Plus, as its sealed it means you can hold them forever or resell them when you want - dont miss out in this once in a lifetime chance to landrush the bean market... zzzzzzzzzzz

At least make this thread useful, why not post which ones you are running with and then can document how .tel goes for you? It might be useful for others to read real data on it.

ok

i will get in touch with domain monster first thing. never thought of this as gambling! should have known. hopefully they will let me cancel half.

i will be keeping virgin.tel and dropping the likes of pcworld. im a greedy fool

like you said, u book 10, get 2, id be very unlucky to get them all!!!!! but still you guys have reigned me in a little so ill hopefully drop some.

i hope disease.co.uk & nuke.co.uk sell this month....

do you guys often approach comapinies, say if u have a brandable domain such as nuke.co.uk, its been suggested to me that i should contact marketing companies that handle big uk clients to say this is a cracker for a new startup.....want as much hype as possible

answers on a postcard

waz up !!

I regged with Monster aswell, really good company IMO

Sure you can cancel them, Landrush not till 3rd of Feb.

As for Virgin you would have a case for legal rights as the word is generic just don't assoiciate your Vigin.tel with any of Mr Bransons products and services ;)

Let's see what happens

Make sure you come back in March and let me know what you got ?

Can't believe this thread is on page 4 now

Yes contact marketing companies, be a hard seller.

Good luck selling them 2 names they're nice

I think domainers are spooked/unnerved by these new and mostly irrelevant TLDs to the point where they consider a punt. E.g., I only regged a handful of .mobis and a couple of .me domains, but I think the smart money stays with the staple diet of .co.uk, org.uk (strong) and .com. End of.

Agreed there, I've learnt from the dotMobi (having bought a handful too) and I do have 2/3 .me's too - but I won't be touching the .tel ext, complete waste of time & money I think. :-|

I have attempted .tel for personal use, my family names mainly, and my first name but see no other use for it.

My family name is gone in everyone single ext as my ancestors about 9 generations back they split off, but they owned a large plot of land that turned into a very expensive town, and now have a fund management around it (least this is what I pieced together from family tree research), in .mobi/.me it was a TM application so I expect .tel will be the same.

Same problem here except mine go back 10 generations :p

Funny you should mention this, i tried AndyMac.com/.co.uk gone
AndyMacdougall.com/.co.uk gone AndrewMacdougall.com/.co.uk gone

Well in December i ran through them again and AndyMacdougall.com which was regged from 2002 to the same person expired and was due to drop Jan 01st 2009, yesterday it finally dropped :D

It was an agonising 10 days lol

Personally I am getting a bit hacked off with all these new suffixes... pure profiteering IMO - let's hope the new ICANN 'initiative' gets stuffed down their necks as it will create chaos if anyone can set up a suffix.

Stick with .com / .net / .org and country specific suffixes (like .co.uk or co.nz etc) and you won't go too far wrong.

Look at the state of .info / .biz etc... known for spammers and crappy "10 free domains" by the registrars cos no one will buy - but they might get a few people forgetting they have bought so they will get the re-reg fees.

Sorry waz but if you do have to buy now, I think you may have wasted your cash. Hopefully you can cancel though. :)

if you guys go to apple.tel or ebay.tel it redirects to their corporate sites, im guessing when you get hold of your .tel you can wangle a redirect in there :)

not only this but you get to pump it full of keywords, so google will see your keywords / links / text, and redirect to your main site. Theres gotta be a use for that.

Just becauses its text doesnt mean you cant have PPC links in it. as long as its a generic phrase people will visit it.

.Tel me im wrong.

Why will they rank it over another domain?

Why would you want rob.tel to redirect to rob.co.uk ?

Why would people type in something.tel when they have never heard of .tel ?

When in the last few years has 'pump it full of keywords' been a decent SEO technique?!

.Tel me im wrong.

you are wrong :)

Inapropriate Advertising of .Tel

telly.jpg

IMO This is disgusting, comments please...think they are trying to 'sexitup'....not surprised i fell for it. bastards.

TW : i agree about icanns stupid plans

Rob : your right, stuffing with keywords won't make Google happy :(
and no need to redirect Rob.tel to Rob.co.uk, if anything would be the other way round.

Are we on page 5 now ? lol
