September .uk drop discussion

Looks like Trident, tct and trm dropped yesterday, now caught.

Were they dropped my Nominet or the person looking to move them delete them or FastHost delete them..
I've got the list running on my platform to catch and I did see the ones that have been caught.

Some of them went into suspended state. Those dropped. The ones in 'renewal required' didn't. Some added a year onto their registration so I assume these won't drop for at least another year. Who knows...certainly not nominet it seems.

Thanks, yeah I just looked at domains still at fasthosts and they haven't had their renewals reversed so god knows, Nominet aren't giving out the most accurate information

TheRegister stated "charlie.uk, which was assigned to Leon Hughes, who owns charlie.co.uk, was ultimately transferred to Susannah Clark. Hughes said he did not authorize the sale."

Any response to that? @Siusaidh

My transactions in the case of the one domain are quite rightly confidential to the people involved, but (a) there is zero theft, and Fasthosts and Nominet are both party to the destination of the domain, with everything bound over by the agreement of the .co.uk holder

She'll fit right in at Nominet if elected, they won't even have to train this one.

Nominet's official stance

'As we understand it, an error in Fasthosts’ automated systems led to a small number of domains at the very end of the expiry period being renewed without the registrant's consent and the admin contacts changed.'

Damn those technical errors! I mean it's not like they run a public facing registrar that would have already checked such a thing being that is probably one of the most basic ways to try and commit fraud.... oh.... wait. Lucky this error (which obviously had no human intervention) was never exploited on dropping domains in the past decade but thankfully now it's been brought to their attention.

Fasthosts domains that were renewed and had a tag change have now had the tag change reversed, they're back with LIVEDOMAINS.

*All of them*.

EDIT: Except pcc.uk.

Looks like charlie.uk is still registered to Susannah Clark. The fact that it has moved back to Fasthosts suggests that something wasn't legitimate. As a result of this, I have decided to change my original vote in the NED election, it is not cast yet, so there is still time for setting things straight, but as things stand my first preference is no longer for Susannah.

Maybe people were too quick to pass judgement on this one or maybe they haven't changed it yes? I am still giving her the benefit as her past behaviour deserves this.

If there was nothing to see here, why would they change the TAG back to LIVEDOMAINS?

This is good news that wheels seem to be in motion at least

Maybe further steps are ongoing such as reverting registrant

Some domains moved to the tag have had their renewals reverted but not all

We only have until 1pm tomorrow before the voting closes. I have also contacted the voting support email address to ask to have my vote reset but am unsure if it will be done in time now.

You meet a special type of person in this game so it's not surprising that "Being nice" fell at the first hurdle.

What do you ladies think would be a fitting punishment for @Siusaidh? Flogging, excommunication, imprisonment, hounded to self harm?

I hate cowards that hunt in packs.

Monitoring this, but mix.uk is on the move...

LIVEDOMAINS > YAYYAY > NAMECHEAP-INC

I purchased the .co.uk and .uk pair from the seller today after a few weeks of negotiations.

I completed the nominet transfer (and received their confirmation email) but when I tried to add the domains to my chosen registrar (Yay), I noticed that the transfer said pending registry approval and checking the Whois it now says NameCheap.

I will be calling Nominet in the morning to find out what happened.

Who is the victim: the people that had their domains hijacked or the people scorned for doing it?

I would like to think if the registrars involved were fully transparent and said they were naive to have participated people would have said fair enough and left it there (in regards to personal criticism)

It's the misleading info posted and the "I have done nothing wrong" attitudes that invite further scrutiny and criticism

Of course in Sussanahs particular case running for a position at Nominet puts you in more of a spotlight
