Pred, if you do not use Sedo for anything, how can you make fair comments! Sedo had problems, I experienced it myself but so others have problems too . I would not say escrow.com is better than Sedo, it’s hard to compare. They provide different functionality. Currency issue is big one. Even though dollar is global currency if you in UK, you must work with numbers in Sterling.
I don’t know how you can avoid using Sedo. If you do any volumes of trade, you can’t make that choice because customers make that for you. As with any company, if you work long enough - you will know how to navigate.
One think I can’t complain about Sedo now is their customer service. I am getting the best service ever I had from Sedo. Very responsive account manager is phone call away.
Atlas, in the events like yours, I always ask for the buyer to sign up on Sedo. Many don’t have problems with that but some do forget or do not understand. Little explaining always helps. That is part of the job.

I can comment as have worked with sedo for years on and off and found them to be more trouble than worth, this is exactly why I can comment
of course have bought and sold on there many times in the past. try asking experienced domainers their views on sedo. try asking rob his views for example
i don't use sedo parking as thats another ripoff and can of worms anyway
i use my own sales sites. ihave a multitude, how any serious domainer doesn't have their own one at least is beyond me
redirect all your domains to your corporate or sales site and then field enquiries. build out some landers, develop others
approach endusers
half my domains are non .uk and the average

chimp can use whois. so most of my enquiries are direct
most domainers who are only into .uk have this big problem with the whois where they can't be contacted easily. if you add to this you use sedo parking and don't have a sales site the you (not you specifically) are sedo's bitch and this is where they want you. there ARE many other options
i get almost zero enquiries over at sedo even though i have many listed there too. enquiries have fallen off a cliff since they changed site and most are timewasters anyway. i feel its mainly domainers lowballing and not endusers
you are better off dealing with enquiries and dealbroking rather than anonymous counterbidding on sedo
i'm not going to give away all my tricks but escrow blows any other sales process out the water if you know what your doing. everyone who i know that has serious sales uses them, you can factor in the currency difference
again if you know or trust buyers then bank transfers are cool. i have had enough dealings with sedo to be slating them. there are a couple i have chatted to in the uk sales office that are quite good i will say but not enough for me to be hugging their nuts lol
also i i am amazed anyone who gets private enquiries for a domain then ships them over to sedo to open an account and introduces them to a pool of 2 million domains to choose from. talk about giving them a chance to backout and change mind
horses for courses but another thing i hate is the robotic response from sedo staff when dealing with stuff. i think you can feel the love
