The seller will have set his/her own reserve and then Sedo seem to have a few preset reserve ranges (so as not to give away the actual reserve, but acts as an indication) the one in your post will have a reserve somewhere between 500 and 999, it would only sell at 501 if the reserve is 500.

It seems a bit strange. So the reserve could actually be double what the reserve price range starts at?

It would put me off. I would rather know what they actually want for it. I would bid up to $600 but as it stands this might not even be enough to meet the reserve.

Most auctions you have no idea what a reserve is, in this case you do at least get a clue.

I can't believe it got accepted into the adult auction, some of names there, including this one, i wouldn't even reg if they were available.

Have sedo reduced themseleves to picking names out of a hat when choosing domains for auction?

while the extension is not good I think the word sexo is no less a Premium word in Spanish

The thing is, it comes down to one person's view on domains, they should have a team deciding but even then they can't always see the value, and as adult auctions go, two of those should have got in. I've never really seen value in adult name .co.uks though so maybe that's a problem.

Wonder what quality name is needed to get into the auction...

Remarkable, was it your reserve perhaps? that's generally a reason why they don't get accepted. fisting should have made it.

reserves were around the £350 - £900 mark dependent on name...

Mine & others names - they're not being rejected for (R) reserve price, they're all being rejected for (Q) quality, despite being more than acceptable adult names.

So far 30 applied for, 20 rejected (Q), 10 unknown.

Rapidly losing patience with sedo, for this and other reasons.

After my initial success in getting my first one accepted decided to try 2 more, trampling and smothering (both couks). I have to admit I didn't initially realise the adult connection when I aquired them(not really my area), but they do clearly seem to be "adult words" and as single words clearly related to the adult industry, I don't see why they shouldn't be acceptable as they relate to an area of the adult industry and what could be better than a single word for that particular niche. Admittedly, not as good as fisting, but same principle applies.

I don't really understand why any name that has any adult connection should be refused on quality grounds, reserve maybe....

I don't really have any experience of adult industry, so apart from sedo is there anyone else that runs similar auctions and don't say ebay !!

My Thoughts...

Firstly; I was pleased Sedo had an 'Adult Auction' on the go.

Secondly; I put a couple of very nice names forward for the auction thinking only an idiot would not want to broker these prime adult names.

Thirdly; My names were not accepted - my conclusion/opinion Sedo seriously have no idea about this area of business, and as a result can only be detrimental to those who have a serious interest in the adult domain sector.

Conclusion; I will not be submitting any more of my adult names to Sedo, but I do invite those who want to set-up a dedicated adult domain and affiliate service to contact me asap to see what we can do.

Now I thought these would at least have some interest. I just cannot work it out, do you think there is an 'industry' conspiracy to drive down the price of .co.uk or do you think something more serious is the matter?
