Right Of Registration EPP Script (Free)

My logs appear to show everything as normal, 9 fired consistently, although for some reason it waited 4.5 seconds after the minute to run? There's also this warning, not sure if it matters much:

Code:
warning:ignored-field field-name="domain:authInfo"
        xmlns:warning="http://www.nominet.org.uk/epp/xml/std-warning-1.1"
        xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.nominet.org.uk/epp/xml/std-warning-1.1 std-warning-1.1.xsd">
Field 'authInfo' found; this field has been ignored.
      </warning:ignored-field>

But big thanks to @Aaron Clifford as I'd have nothing without his code.

Delay in nominet response?

I assume the logs are written after the nominet response though? Seen some mad slowdowns from them - I guess their servers can barely handle the strain.

There is a calculated delay in the code after requests have been sent to read all the responses, so my log times may differ to the create times, although I'm seeing creates with responses of 16 seconds after the minute, likely the load balancing at nominet causing that, most likely queued requests

Should we be sending our epp requests from our scripts before 2pm that is the big Q - or can we assume they are all slurped in instantly but processed over ( what appears to be ) a fairly long number of seconds. If I manually fed an epp create command into an open connection in an ssl command line client I guess I would be able to see. Network congestion alone must cause some delay but I suspect it would be 10s of ms at the very most. But queuing on the server input read socket may well be significant. Shame all the code tweaking is only for a week’s use !!

Point is they cannot read in tens of thousands epp create requests in 1ms and there will be many of these arriving too soon so there will already be a big log jam at 1:59.999.

They can't. That is clear from their reaction. They even turn off the *cough* unrelated *cough* normal service when running. Can't understand why - they made bazillions in profits maybe they should upgrade their pentium 2. They're getting one of those flat screen thingies for it next year.

They can’t - they would need a network orders of magnitude bigger than the normal drop systems because that’s 99.9% dac not epp.

....or... don't drop ALL the domains at the same time. I don't know how that would work though - they've never staggered drops throughout the day at random times before...oh..wait.

I had commitments last week so had to finish my software at the weekend and couldn’t test on testbed lol

I’m going to send 3 of my 9 at 1:59.975 - I’ll let you know. Living life on the edge ..

This way does give us all a chance coz no write/read dac delay which normally favours better kit and connectivity.

don’t forget to check your server ntp time accuracy with ntpdate and tweak if necessary - I do it manually using ‘date’ from the command line .. fiddly.

They don't need to invest in infrastructure, the domains will all sell regardless.

I wondered about this. If i do an NTPSTAT it say within 14-20ms on average. That sounds like a lot to me

thats what i thought. Stratum 2 for what thats worth.

203 on my list for today. Hopefully the higher volume will help get something good.

Weird. Some of my first 9 got a "still reserved" response, others got snatched first, but not in order.
