Hello one and all....

I'd be interested in a ball park valuation of the domain - and any suggestions on how to make money on it now...

www.recyclehere.co.uk

(I note the picture on the front of recycle.co.uk is an A board with the words 'recycle here'...common phrase)

Bit of a long term investment, but would like to know anyone / everyone's thoughts!

Any info gratefully received.

Cheers

Will

... and why did recycle.co.uk go for £150,000 - or is that a typo?

:)

The buyer and seller are both members here. One a moderator.
It is a great generic domain but also was a big developed project/website
That added a lot of value

Expensive!

£150,000 for the site and name....

Wow - the domain must be £140K's worth then, cos I have a programmer that could do the site for way less than 10K!...

I presume there's a few hundred K in the bank for marketing if the buyer is willing to pay that much for a domain!... otherwise it's not such a great investment is it?

So if I pay my programmer to come up with something better than the recycle.co.uk website (better idea, image and marketing) does that mean the theoretical value will be higher?

Any input welcome!

Cheers

Will

Probably not, the value of that sale was mainly in the domain name which is the ultimate generic for the recycling industry. Your domain is unfortunately nowhere near the same league.

we'll see!

Thanks for the comments...

We shall see - I realise that I'm approaching this from a different angle to many of the users on this site... but inherent value seems to be what someone will pay and shouldn't be on 'current' stats which from a marketing perspective are generally flawed unless each individual visit to a site can be assessed for quality / reason etc.... and databases.. well, they're cheap as you like!

Still doesn't add up to me - the recycle.co.uk site is a simple and quite a narrow business model and not worth £150k... I think something smells fishy!

Love to hear from anyone who thinks the same!

Cheers

recycle.co.uk

I bought it:)

Forget the business model on it and think of where the world is going.

you have a lot to learn in this industry if thats the way you think :)

i have http://www.RecycleGuide.co.uk and that is still better, more generic than the domain you have :)

Like I said its not particularly the site thats worth the money its the domain name.

Why would recycleguide be more generic than recyclehere?

Please tell - I don't understand?

Oh yea.. and any idea of a value?

Thanks

It's not necessarily "more generic" but it is more desirable.

RecycleGuide is what it says - a guide to recycling.

RecycleHere is .... erm.... it's a sign that you have somewhere where you can do recycling. If you can develop a site where I can 'upload' my waste paper, plastics, cans etc - you might have a chance.

Definitely agreed there, recycling is the future, without a shadow of a doubt.

I have these tucked away personally  :
