The “scam” bad publicity of the .com….won’t of helped with naturally financing it, Developing a forum type thing getting enough members then associated advertisers goods, services etc would bring in an income but would take time and money, Domaineers you would probably get only lowball offers

Wouldn’t be that hard to find the top 100 publishers UK, USA, Canada etc email, mail, visit…? See what prices they come back with let them know who else your offering it too see if it makes them keen to stop there competition. There were the real £ are..?
Offer them a chance to do some sort of collaboration were they develop you get a set income either through lease, sales % etc.

A few viral averts sexy guy, girl etc reading a poem then finish with either voice over or text “poetry is not just for geeks”. Make them funny, sexy, cute whatever creates a buzz posts them around tell as many different people as possible it’s available..? See what comes back. Its fine to say I wouldn’t sell for this or that (which is why many never will sell) If the entire potential market offers xxxx then your not going to sell for xxxxx in the near future.

It is a nice name but not the easiest to make revenue from...

Thanks to others here who have taken the trouble to post a lot of helpful info and sent me pms.

I really appreciate the friendliness and I will review my options and decide what to do.

Susannah - take no note of some of the disgusting and unacceptable manners here. Again, welcome to you.

How tacky does a website look with lots of amazon links all over, people arnt stupid they know the website makes money from affilate links when they start at one site and end up at amazon :D

I prefer to go to an affiliate site and click straight through to Amazon rather than visit a site with obvious keyword-heavy text on the homepage and a dodgy design/template...but maybe that's just me.

I think people feel more comfortable buying from Amazon than they do random unprofessional-looking websites (which, sorry to say, most affiliate sites are. The homepage is a dead giveaway).

Ahh the thread police, :) gramps chill out you might just give yourself a heart attack :D

Don't worry, I'm chilled about stuff, and just here to talk about domains. I take responsibility for my own life, and I don't expect everyone to say "Ooh, transsexual, how lovely" and I have a sense of humour about it. But I'm here to discuss the domains, because finding an appropriate price for some of mine is really way more urgent, just to financially survive when I start at uni. I'm just focussed on that, and learning through this site, and any stuff beyond that I am very chilled about and I can take.

Very cheeky picture though! Have a good day, all of you ;)

Considering accident.co.uk has received 2 offers in the last few days - 1 @ £30k and 1 @ £35k (http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/premium-domain-names/82979-accident-co-uk.html) I think this speaks volumes - even if the 2 domains are obviously different etc

I dont that is a good indication that this particular domain would sell very easily. As you say, all domains are different. If you price a domain at a competitive price, it will get offers and sell quite quickly. But theres lots of domains for sale on here which havent got any offers because they are over priced. I think the thing that speaks volumes is that the OP has received a £5,000 offer from a member on here.

When did I say it would sell easily ?

Bigots and twats aside - you'll be fine here. You'll soon learn who is useful and useless :)

Frank will price anything out of the water thats just Frank, hes not realistic :)

Accident.co.uk is 100x better and if it was the plural then any amount can be acheived :) I am not sure why frankie sees the comparison??

I am starting to think there are a few blokes on here that also sit at there desks in womens underwear  next you will be telling me frankie swings

Drat, found out again! :p

Admittedly I can see that accident.co.uk has such a direct commercial applicability as an insurance site that I'd expect it to be in a different league - probably hence the £35K

I've already been offered £5000 for poetry.co.uk and while that probably is a canny offer, with a view to making further profit from development or re-sale, nevertheless I appreciate the openness of the offer and I thank Mally for being straight and direct like that.

I'm never going to hold on in the hopoe of £25K or something. In all honesty if someone pm'd me with an offer of £7000 I'd go with that today, and many of you would say 'you fool' but I would say 'yeah but it removes so much pressure off my studies, and is enough to make them possible' so I'd see it as a result for all parties.

The other way I'd be very happy to handle my domains would be like this:

A domain sugar-daddy / mommy or 'dragon' would say:

"Okay Susannah, this is the deal! I will use my skills to guarantee you £300 a month for three years from your various best domains. This makes uni financially safe for you (well along with your student bursary). If I make any additional income from the domains, I the dragon keep it... plus... at the end of the three years, "we" sell the domains for best price and value we've developed, and we share proceeds - which ought to amount to many thousands - 50/50..."

And I would be happy because I could focus on my nursing studies and not work weekends and evenings for the 3 years... plus the 'dragon' would have way more expertise to maximise the domains earning potential and ultimate sale value... and hopefully the 'dragon' would also have ended up making, I don't know £5000 or £10000 from the earnings and sale of my various best domains.

</dream>

But £35K is not something I would wait for! It would be one of those freak and random miracles.

I just need around £12-15K overall and my uni course will be safe as houses.

I want to be a nurse, not run a domain empire.

But equally I want to do the best I can with the domains I own, so that's why I'm sounding out. This thread has been brilliant. And I've had some amazing pms and e-mails. Thank you to all.

Susannah

Susannah - you should post that request in Services Wanted, you'd probably get some good people. :)

There is a difference between saying and doing.

There is a difference between an offer and an opinion on price.

There is a difference between revenue and potential revenue.

Be careful!!

Yeh I always price other peoples domains out of the water  No I just believe in being honest with someone who has asked for an honest appraisal, without insulting them in more ways than one.

Again that is your opinion - I am not saying that it is / isn't a better domain, I was merely pointing out that the money which has been offered for that name.

If accident.co.uk is 100x better then that makes poetry.co.uk worth £350, but you valued it at £3k-5k ?

I am starting to think there are a few blokes on here that also sit at there desks in womens underwear

We all have fantasies Shaun, not quite sure I would share mine in public though ;)

next you will be telling me frankie swings

Well luckily for you and everyone else I don't, but I can assure you if I did, you would be quite safe (remembers Shaun's facebook pics....)

I would say this would be a very good dream, and doubt it would ever happen, especially with a domain like poetry.co.uk. Im quite talented at web development and seo etc... and I think if I spent a whole year working on the site I would be extremely lucky to make it earn even £300 per month.

Thank you for the frank opinion Mark - I need to deal in realities, in order to make the best decisions
