OK have posted this on A4U, but probably better to have posted here.

I have Paydayloans.edu.xx and Debtmanagement.edu.xx

Where xx is a country extension (a European Country). I have got these under the assumption that .edu domains are powerful and will be good ones to have, what are your thoughts?

Mansoor

I have never seen .edu.xx discussed on this forum before, so I guess that says something about what the UK domaining community thinks about them.

yeah.. though purely from links point of view they should be quiet good with .edu domains being weighed more heavily..But that is why I posted as I tired searching and found no answers... :) Also should mention they are both Pr 4s if that makes any difference..

I did not necessarily saw it as a bad thing :D

If a domain extension is so unused and specialist that you can't find any information about it on the internet then I think that tells you all you need to know about both the value and the desirability of almost "anything".that.extension

Seriously, Mansoor?

Why don't you tell us exactly which extension you have. Having looked at most of the edu.xx variables I can't find your sites on google. I did only look on page 1 results though...

Unless it's paydayloans.edu.je which is on offer here in a premium edu.je sale...

I thought there were fairly strict rules over who/what can register any type of edu domain. Although these guys think edu domains are really great for the value of edu backlinks, edu is for universities and education in all but a few minds - you may get visitors through Google with such a domain if it ranks well but you'll struggle getting someone to actually return by typing it in - because it seems strange and out of place for finance or any sites unless it's something educational like usc.edu or umd.edu etc.

But please prove me/us wrong - looking at your blog, you're certainly dedicated and congrats on generating £xxx revenue on an .EU oak sideboard site! That domain would also have been far from my preferred choice for development but it clearly worked for you.

Best wishes, Richard

hi Ty and ownthisdomain :)

I rather not say the extension, reason being is I intend to use them for links certainly NOT for rankings. Right now they have only a holding page along with a local university address.

Its definitely not .je ..I am aware of that thread. There are rules. But I have some links in academia, and they were able to get it done for me.

In anycase, reason for me to ask was to determine valuation if any. Also if you thought having domains like this will help in the serps?

Personally I have always viewed the .edu link as powerful, but usually far too much trouble to actually have. Then I get given this..

Oak sideboard, was an experiment one that was umm not soo successful, someone blasted links on it for a while..right during Christmas rush.. and the site plummeted..When i started the experiment I had not idea about .eu domains, so I tried it!

To date I only own three .eu domians, the other two are one words that I hope to sell someday lol

Thank you so much for you help

Regards

Mansoor

If your not going to share the full information for an appraisal your not going to get one back. It's like saying can you appraise this domain for me loans.XXXX, and it might be a co.cc for all we know, If you provide all the information you will get the answer you want or not in this case as it will be the same as Ty & OTD replies.

Aaron

Thank you...I cant share the full information, so I will take the replies you guys have kindly given me! I am happy to give them a try worst case I loose some money..

In the old days that was referred to as 'left-field thinking' Now we just call it 'unworkable'

Are they even real domains?

I could go buy www.edu.fr and sell paydayloans.edu.fr (sub domain)... wouldn't make it an edu domain.

I think the only value in them is spamming them full of links to people who are under the false impression they are "real" edu domains. Even if it is an educational extension its not an ac.uk or .edu and it doesn't have any real domain authority.

Combine that with the fact you can't rank it in Google.co.uk/.com and you're beat really.

My advice would be spam them full of links and make a few thousand dollars on each of them. The links themselves will be worthless but I bet if you take it to digitalpoint people will be falling over themselves to buy these "high value, rare, super powerful in Google edu finance links" :D
