 Sorry but £100k for onlinecasino.co.uk is way too low the buyer is the winner in this sale as "online casino" is search for 301,000+ a month on google with "online casinos" with 27,000 a month.

i only wish you made a post on acorndomains that you was selling onlinecasino.co.uk for £100k what a bargain price.

What a load of bull. How many six figure sales have you been involved with?

If kass is who I think it is, then probably a few as hes old skool 'domainer' :)
Fair enough, maybe he has, but you don't see many old skool domainers who have been involved with a few xxx,xxx deals that ask for appraisals on stuff like 1shopping & ggames (.co.uk)

No bull ben i would never sell onlinecasino.co.uk he just sold wealth for rich.

As for the point you making with 1shopping and ggames lol i bet you £100k everyone who owns £100k+ domain names have £1+ domain names too in their domain name list, its called buying domain names late at night when pissed :D

Plus you need to take into account online casino is banned in U.S.A so usa online casino sites are looking for new markets that adds more of a premium price to onlinecasino.co.uk.

Kass, some people think I got a great price, others think I undersold. As you seem to know the industry it's no surprise you're in the latter group. However, my motive to sell was bigger than money alone. I run several online gaming sites myself and I know all about yield per RM etc. But, I have a longer term strategy. For me, speed and momentum in business is everything :)

Just looked at prizedraws.com, quite nice... but was there one minute and gone the next... now says "coming soon". If you'd like some info on some of the best monetisation partners in that space send me a PM. I've run a very similar site in the past, pretty successfully...

James all you needed is wordpress and signup to a white label casino service then post one casino news story each day for 6 months but i understand their are 100s of domainers with great domain names but no time to build them.

James the "coming soon" is the frontpage as the site is not live yet everything else is working i am still testing the site for bugs before index.php replaces the "coming soon" page you see, but i am happy you think its nice but what do you think of the model (how it works) you think it will work?

That's exactly right. I already have my finger in too many pies, and frankly these were two of the least exciting prospects.

But have you notice when you do sell a good domain name 2-3 years down the line you think, i have time now i shouldnt have sold it lol

Kass if we ever meet face to face I'll tell you the full story :)

What i'd be interested to know is when horseracing/co/uk get seo'd and what % of people typing in 'horse racing' are really interested in placing a bet or just interested in horse racing...

A lot of people julian, put it this way i bet a high percent of people who buy the racing post newspaper are punters just look at their website the main feature is a video with a william hill betting code offer for a free £100 bet then you got the betting offers in their menu etc poker, casino, spreads then theirs the betting offers on the right handside of the frontpage then look at their frontpage title text the first words are "UK Horse racing" and the last words are "Racing Post" etc

UK Horse racing from Perth, Kempton, Catterick - Results - Race Cards - Horse Racing Tips & News | Racing Post

Is all very smart talking about horse racing then offer free betting deals around the news story as the bbc are not allowed plus it keeps the visitor coming back to read the news and get tips and google loves them as their frontpage is alway being updated with fresh horse racing news and their is a high percent that the vistors bets.

So if they setup the site like racingpost.com and money.co.uk they got a high odds getting to page one for the keyword "horse racing" as that is been search for millions of time a month so £100k is a bargain price if they set it right and not use news feeds.

really? at 100k the word 'bargain' imho a bit strong, lets hope so because the sites not even in the first 10 pages of g and will be interesting to see how long it takes (if ever) it gets there.

Also... to make 100k+ straight profit from affiliate sales, from that site to pay for itself will be interesting :D - but hey what do I know it prob just a trophy, or corp tax saver - I hope i'm proved wrong..

Juilian you need to look at it as a long term investment, just think how much money they will save in ppc from the free traffic they will getting for the keyword "horse racing" if they setup the site right for etc look at past domain name sales who payed a lot for the domain name but setup the site right etc

Fly.co.uk sold £87,500 is no1 on google.co.uk for "fly"
Recycle.co.uk sold £150,000 is no1 on google.co.uk for "recycle"
Hallmark.co.uk sold £29,375 is no1 on google.co.uk for "hallmark"
GiftIdeas.co.uk sold £25,427 is no1 on google.co.uk for "gift ideas"
Cruises.co.uk sold £560,000 is no6 on google.co.uk for "cruises"
SKI.co.uk sold £80,000 is no7 on google.co.uk for "ski"
Sport.co.uk sold £150,000 is no1 on page 2 on google.co.uk for "sport"

So julian you need to do your research in how many searches the keyword/s is search for each month for etc "fly" is search for 6,120,000 in may on google.co.uk and fly.co.uk is no1 for that keyword soo say 1% click on fly.co.uk no1 listing thats 61,200 visitors a month in free traffic from google.co.uk now if the ppc cost is 0.10p a click to be no1 on google adword which i think with travel keywords is a lot more thats a saving of £6120 a month in free traffic and £73440+ a year and the domain name cost £87,500 so yes its a lot of money to invest in one go but long term its value for money then theirs the type in traffic and the domain name is easy to remember so yes £100k for horseracing.co.uk is a bargain if you setup the site right as "horse racing" had 1,500,000 searches in may.

julian their are many affiliates earning £100k+ profit a month in the gambling market they just dont shout about it on forums.

i'm well aware of the prices and these domains and ranking, and understand they are mostly a "long term investment" but i'm very sceptical if them actuaLLY making any 'real' money right now.

its pointless saving money on ppc on weak search terms that don't convert - looking now not really much competition on adwords for fly is there..?

fly - does anyone really go to a search engine type in 'fly' and then book a flight? something like 'cheap flights' is where the money is - and fly.co.uk is invisible, they don't even advertise becuase they probably can't afford too as the numbers and conversions don't add up.

don't presume that just because someones spent (punted..) £££,£££ on a keyword domain and got it ranking in g (which is a piece of piss anyway) that it will actually make any money..

domain like horseracing, cruises have much more chance..

Juilian startups with a generic domain names is rare and speaks volumes in terms of credibility, memorability and lifetime of type-in traffic.

Just look at travelzoo.com payed $1.8m for fly.com and yellowpages.com payed $3.8m for yp.com its all about making it easier for the end user to remember and type.

Juilian random brandable domains are all well and good, but they require massive investment and time to make them work with a generic address is rare and speaks volumes in terms of credibility, memorability and lifetime of type-in traffic.

Juilian you be very surprised in how being no1 for your keyword then no3 makes a differences in your income/traffic.

Juilian the only way you can find out if they making any real money is wait in till they do their accounts and then pay £1 on companieshouse.gov.uk and see in black and white their profit and loss records, thats if they are a ltd company.
