Making a Domain earn £1 a week

Ive just had 1 days figures running at 300% over just half a day.

Im not sure if we are loss-leaders or not and Ive just asked that very question.

I've yet to try it, can you give me some examples of sites that your using them on?

What is the relevance and targetting of the adverts like?

The weekend results were v poor compared to mid-week results - I guess that's down to traffic, rather than revenue etc.

Ive been using it for the past week and also noticed that the weekend income was way down even though the uniques/clicks were about the same as mid-week. Maybe there's less competition for weekend ads?

I'm seeing 3-4 times adsense rev on some of my domains and you're not limited by stupid restrictions and 'ads by goooooooogle' plastered all over the place :) Like it so far!

I have just one concern, that the limited company behind the reselling of yahoo ads here in the U.K. Is a newly registered company, going back to June 2007. Plus with the payment 60 days instead of googles 30 days after months end.

Just something to keep an eye on if the money does definitley come across. But apart from that concern, it's a lot better than adsense.

I have already received about £8000 from them into my bank account, they pay their bills just fine so far. Albeit you do have to wait for them to get paid from their source but no problems to date.

They didn't start in June, that part/domain/extension started in June.

I have dealt with them for a few months, not just using Yahoo ads but also ASK related search.

Their version of Yahoo ads only work for sites that generate mainly UK traffic, hence for my sites I mainly still use Adsense for the tens of thousands of users I get each day from across the globe because they cannot cater for USA traffic specifically.

cool.. maybe you can share with us the sites you have had so much sucess with.. I'd be interested in seeing the niches that generate such great revenues from this..... :) organic traffic or arbitrage??

no probs, it wasn't anything specific that caused my concerns. But the old saying, "if it looks too good to be true, it usually is" came to mind. And for me it is wiping the floor with adsense.

But glad to here someone got an end result out of them, it does look quality.

Correct just checked and the company was started in 2005, so all looks o.k to me.

I was going to wait until the first sites started to pay out before swapping the rest, but I'm fairly confident about the situation now.

Get the rest changed asap.

Always organic traffic Stevie I'm too tight to pay for my traffic :), their other product "Quick Links" I use on many sites like my tattoo site, you can see it on the right there. I don; use the yahoo ads much as I don't have much soecific UK traffic sites.

£1/week....labour intensive

I am new to the whole domain thing, as can be displayed with my junior membership. But I fail to see how, without spending the majority of your life in maintenance, how only domain ownership without any products or service being provided can be a real opportunity.

Just for a hobby, sure it's ok, but as a business proposition, am I way out in thinking it's not sustainable and far too labour intensive?

Thats the beauty of a true mini-site, once setup (a couple of hours work) you can literally just leave it alone, with little or no ongoing maintenance.

You could use this to 'park' domains whilst awaiting a full blown development, or just as a way of monetising your domain portfolio.

Hi BFTUK an all,

This is such an interesting thread... So i've put 2 hours effort into a mini-site!

I picked up a domain the other day which pretty much means nothing to me but does to others... somewhere...

http://www.ValveSprings.co.uk

This is my mini site... Only 1,500 more to develop :D

I used a simple template picked up from a link on this thread.

Cheers - it's amazing what you can do in 2 hours!!

I would just point out that your text is just a copy from Wiki, unless you have unique content that isn't already spidered on the internet then it will be unlikley that you pick up any traffic on a new domain.

And I'm pretty sure if you use Wiki copy you have to credit it.

Beat me to it Scott.

The main base of these mini-sites is UNIQUE CONTENT! Don't waste your time manually creating pages with duplicate content.

Not neccersarily so - I have 5 or 6 sites from which I have 'borrowed' large portions - ok - all - the text from from Wiki.

They are all listed above Wiki in rankings now. If this is because the domain name matches exactly the key words searched for, I do not know.

thanks all for your feedback - and to firestars for you honesty!

i'm going to paraphrase the pages, should only take an hour as there's only four - and will also credit wiki to for the informational assistance - karma and all that ;)

I made a mistake and borrowed a fair bit from wiki earlier on when first started doing mini sites and google took about my site with a chainsaw and even if I type in the "RomeGuide.co.uk" into google it comes lower in the rankings than the few sites I have than point to it.

So they definitely punished me for it but still comes top on msn, and brings in a couple of quid a day but could do more if I got time to write my own content. Although paying someone to write it seems like an even more cost effective measure.

They have enough links! Don't link back!!

I tend to research (read article such as WIKI and other top ranking sites) a little and then write in my own words each article.

That way you don't link anywhere and you can guarantee 100% unique content.

Gwing it sounds like your duplicate content was spotted and your site lost a little trust from Google.
