Sedo will give the cash back but thats hardly the point.

IMHO acorn shouldnt promote them until they sort their act out, and make it obvious why.

There is a 'gap' in marketing and reality.

Hi Rob,

If that was in response to my comment, I wasn't trying to promote Sedo specifically, more the security of using any escrow service over dealing direct.

Personally I've had very few problems with Sedo, which I think puts me in a minority, however since their hike to 15% commission I use them much less than I did.

No :)

General comment on forum. Check the stickies in this subforum, I replied to the top one with feedback as it deals with forms and is from 2005.

I cant think of a serious domainer whos using sedo as a primary sales platform and or dont take the piss when talking about them.

Its misleading to newbies who read this, and some info is out of data and plain wrong.

I've never bought anything on Sedo but have some domains listed for sale.

I've now lost count of the number of times I've attempted to list a domain only for it to get stuck on the 'owner verification' stage because it turns out to still be listed for sale on a previous owners account.

Usually they sort this fairly quickly once I email them but it's made me far too paranoid to every buy from them. It's impossible to know if anything advertised for sale is actually genuinely still for sale or where notifications of any offers you make are going to end up if this kind of listing error has occurred. God knows what would happen if a BIN is incorrectly listed and someone tries to buy it.

I can't believe they can run a business like this.....as far as I can see advertising someting for sale at you don't own is fraud, the fraud has to be Sedo's and not the original owner because it would be reasonable for the original owner to assume that any names they had allowed to expired would get de-listed so they may not even know.

With my situation, I would definitely have been better going direct, as the new owner did!!

Just an update:

Sedo have finally got back to me and told me they are refunding me. They have also said I can take legal action and they are making the buyer's details fully available!

Ask them are they closing the account of the seller.

Congrats! Will you ever get to know what really happened with the name? I don't think so. There are lots of dishonest people out there!
