Did you miss out on any?

By the time I had logged in a few had gone yes but I wasn't that disappointed really as although good they were not the cream of the crop ;-O I should have called NFPA sooner to find out what was going on instead of waiting for what was clearly an inactive site to be fixed ;-( I also had problems placing my bids as their bid submission pages kept freezing on me.

The lack of an update on this is shocking, I've got stuff to do FFS!

Nominet Short Domains Auction Update

Further to our previous communications, we would like to provide an update.

Our dedicated internet connectivity provider experienced a major regional outage last night. Whilst we were able to run from our backup centre for a while, it was clear that there had been some bidder confusion. Ultimately we were not happy that the level of service we aspire to was being met, and at about midday today the decision was made to suspend the auction process.

We would like to apologise to Nominet and the auction participants for this inconvenience suffered.

In the interests of fairness to all bidders, we are going to revert all auctions to the position as at 17.59 on Wednesday 14th September, being the time of the last bid prior to the service disruption. Any bidding which took place after that point in time will therefore be voided as will any notifications of the awarding of domain names, and we will restart the auctions at 10.00 am (UK time) on Monday 19th September.

We will advise further when the auction site is available again.

Regards,

NFPAS

are all these nom auctions finally over?

Nominet Short Domains Auction - Auction Site Available

Good Afternoon,

Further to our previous communication yesterday, we can now advise that the auction web site is available again via our main auction URL:

http://www.nfpa.co.uk/auctions/nominet/inetlog3.cfm

In the interests of fairness to all bidders, the auctions have been reset to their position as at 17.59 on Wednesday 14th September, being the time of the last bid prior to the service disruption. All bids and any notifications of the awarding of domain names which took place after this point have been declared void.

The expiry date of all ongoing auctions has been updated to Monday 19th September. The expiry time remains unchanged, however we will be allowing bids to made on these lots/domains from 5pm (UK time) this afternoon.

For example;
If the auction for nfpa.co.uk was due to expire at 10:15am on Thursday 15th September, this will now show; nfpa.co.uk expiring at 10:15am on Monday 19th September

Highest bids made between 5pm today and 10am on Monday will be recorded and the expiry time will then show 11am on Monday 19th September.

Best Regards,

NFPAS

p_co_uk closed at 40,000

Interesting that some of these have been put up for sale today, for a significant mark-up. Even more interesting, is that they're not appearing as registered, despite it being 7 days since the auction...

Just won my initials :) I posted that I didn't think the domain was worth the money but thought what the hell, the chances of me buying it in the future for less where slim. Too late now in any case!

:p What did you pay for them in the end?

Way more than the domain was worth £8100 :-(

The domains with two letters the same seem to have reach crazy amounts, just my luck to have 'SS' as my initials!

As you said earlier though, slim chance of buying them for a lower price in the future.

the most I bid was 2.4k for any domain
needless to say I bought none

bottom line with that amount I can buy a top domain if you search hard enough
