Landrush phase for .uk short domains now open

That would be opposed by every .co.uk nameholder, who collectively control £billions in advertising every year. Unless, of course, Nominet gave the existing .co.uk nameholders first dibs at the equivalent .uk...

Nominet board suicide, lawsuits and drs heaven = carnage = won't happen

As Edwin says the .co.uk domains would almost certainly have to have first grabs at it so it won't raise that much in auction for Nominet to consider doing it.

Yes but their decisions dont go to a vote from the public domain holders. So it could happen, has it been discussed? Its possible is it not? It would be huge in implication and way beyond this little exercise with the 2 letters... which incidentally they never intended to release either!

Aaragh! What's with the bidding in the last 7 minutes? 4 times today so far!!

I must say as a bidder that it feels the odds are stacked completely against me. I'm after my company initials (qw), and just about to hit £2k (and this is for an unpopular pairing). If one of the big boys with deep pockets wants to buy it and sit on it then fine, but I won't be going for it as a third party buyer. Ever.

It's now or never... and I think I'll save my cash.

What sort of price would you lot pay for your sons initials?

Would it be a mistake buying for 17 years time lol?

Very very very hard to tell. The uk namespace will be so different in 17 years, the internet is in its infancy in comparison.

You could be giving them a stone or a domain worth £xx,xxx - It's very hard to tell.

I think the safer bet is to just leave it and buy him a car ;)

@Steve, tell me about it!

As soon as someone bids on a domain im in on - I will counter them. Just bid what you're going to bid. Delay tactics aren't fooling anyone :)

Yes your right Ashton, gave it my last bid, I would be paying with the banks money anyway, so best not to go over my limit.

Back to £25 domains lol

Everything I'm watching / bidding on have gone over £3k, I picked up a few nice combinations last week for less than £2k each, not this time! Is anyone else seeing a increase in price from last week?

Yep, they're all going higher than last week as far as I can see.

Yup, mine are all at 2.5k+

I am starting to regret not going higher on hy.co.uk which sold at 2.1k... hmm.

Depends how today goes!

Running total: 5 domain for £12,944.00

Ergh.

I'm assuming the big boys are bidding on lots and keeping them from expiring in case others they are after get too hot for them. Gives them another option.

ha ha

Mo - you watching????:):)

I like waiting til the last 10 mins......

i think i may have missed out an extra zero when budgeting for this!!

OX is currently at £5700, it was at £5200 at 11am. I'm out. would rather buy a keyword name.

I dropped out of rf.co.uk @ £1550. Currently at £2,806.

I'd rather spend my money on other names at that price, especially when you consider all prices are + VAT.

Yeah, the "+ VAT" warning on the bid page came as a bit of a shock as I wasn't aware that this would be added to winning bids until I first entered a bid.

I see that the first invoices went out today. I paid this morning and I now have both domains I won in my name.

No WHOIS for g or fb yet though...
