[hopes nobody here fell for the marketing hype]

I'm thinking about getting one, however the price is just way way to exepensive.

As most of you know you can claim against your business for mobile phone bills, so it really won't cost me, however I could get a phone with a free Wii instead for free and £30 a month

There crap and cost over 1k who the hell buys a iphone for 1k man..

you cannot picture message or put a new sim card in without having to send to apple direct...

yep heard some guys unlocked the phone last week so not tied to the operator, not sure what the point is if you don't have a sim, but I'm sure there is one!

Very good marketing though can't argue with it. But way too expensive to justify that amount. Personally the nokia e90 for me. Got the 9300 and have smashed the life out of it over 2 years and it still works. Wouldn't feel that confident about dropping the iphone.

this is probably showing my age, but arent mobile phones supposed to be jsut that, mobile phones. I like the function of accessing the internet etc, but playing music, a zillion pixel (or whatever they have nowadays) camera etc for me is pointless.

i have an orange spvm500, had it for nearly 3 years, never let me down. its got a 1mb pixel camera, but i dont use it so it doesnt matter.

i have no idea wot the iphone does or doesnt do, couldnt give a crap to be honest, its just one of those passing fads. all those people u see on tv queing up at 1am in the morning etc to get one, WHY??????? in 3 months time (after xmas) they will all b half price.

if i had the iphone, id be scared to take it outta the house, theft of mobile phones is one of the uks fastest rising crimes, why put urself at risk just to have this flashy toy?

well, thats it, morning rant over, better do some work

I totally agree (showing my age too!) which is why I recently ditched all my brick-like gadget phones and refurbished my old 8310, best phone ever :)

Same thing happened with the first ipod - the 5Gb version cost £350!!!!

But now you can get an ipod for chump change. The same will happen with the phone.

I'll wait until the next release :)

So has anyone bought an iphone? What is the verdict? Thx.

I have used the ipod touch whch can access the web via wifi and has a similar touch screen to the ipod. It is really good, screen is good and very light weight. I think the price was £200 which is still quite a lot of money for a 8gb ipod. As for £1000 total price of the iphone - waste of time.

The people who cue up all night for such devices do it because their lives are empty and vacuous, they believe that by having the latest thing first will make them popular and make their peers jealous, they are the same people who frequent private exclusive members bars, and wear sunglasses at night, they normally live beyond their means and are generally unhappy.

Ipods and Iphones - pointless.

Anyone that goes anywhere with headphones sticking in their ears - clueless.

Firestars has spoken.

I still have my old 8310 to, and I agree best fone ever if just want to make calls, although I used to loose it all the time as its so f****** small!

I would wait a couple of months for bugs to be ironed out etc before buying one, not that I would buy one.

I agree with you to a point. These mobile phones are a jack-of-all-trades, but master of none. I have a Sony Ericsson w850i, which is also a walkman, radio and 2 megapixel camera. It's great to have if my iPod has run out of charge, or if I've forgotten my proper 7 megapixel digital camera (which I often do!), but it will never replace any of them.

Ha ha, lovely. Watching that on TV made me sad for modern society.

Bit like staying up all night waiting for that illusive domain to drop - does that make you popular with your friends??

It probably does if you catch it that domain then goes on to make you very rich :p

It seems great minds think alike, I too have given up on all the latest phones and gone back to my old Nokia 8210 (which I bought way back in 1999), the phone still works perfectly and is much smaller than all the bricks you get nowadays. The phone can only do one thing and that is make calls which I assume is what mobile phones were designed for.
