Holidays this year

My sister has just bought a caravan down the gower so going to paying a visit!

Buying a new house in July though so most of my time will be spent sorting out the garden (currently just mud!)

It ought to be a good year for UK tourism!

I have booked two summer holidays - one in Cornwall and one in Brittany (taking the ferry) so hopefully those two will go without a hitch.

Was going to grab a week in Tenerife imminently but I'm not sure now whether it's worth the risk...

On the plus side, we recently started out renting an apartment between the Lakes and the Dales. It's always a bit tricky 'getting off the ground' (no pun intended) in the first year, but the ash cloud is certainly helping. We have taken at least one booking where we *know* it's been a direct cause and goodness knows how many others are from being thinking it's not worth chancing it.

Gozo looks fantastic!

They have a "red sand" beach - Ramla il-Hamra, very nice one. But you should know that Gozo is one of most quiet places on Earth. You can only get there by helicopter from Luqa Airport or by ferry (about 40 mins for both).

There is another island - Comino. It is tiny, only has one hotel but also a Blue Lagoon. We are thinking about trying this one as well.

We did big hols to Orlando last year - which was far better than anticipated. This year, we're probably staying close to home for two reasons:

1 We have mad lab puppy, too young to trust leaving with others - she might destroy something valuable!

2 Funds are a bit tight at the moment!

So may do Devon for a week or two, and throw in a few day trips, weekend with friends etc.

Got back on sunday, from the best family holiday of my life in Kos, Greece - maybe because it was a 5* all inclusive holiday and thats why it was so good lol

We've done a few Sunsail & Mark Warner all inclusives over the past few years in Greece and Turkey. Absolutely fantastic. Kids have plenty to do, lots of new friends to make and clubs to keep them occupied. Oldest has more freedom than he'd get anywhere else. 'Grown ups' have lots of boats and other facilities to play with, some 'kid free time', but also great opportunities to do fun things with the kids.

The best thing about the 'all inclusive' option though is that it makes the holiday so much more stress free. (Can you have 'more stress free'?) Not having to think about paying for anything except the odd bar drink or ice-cream is bliss!

Almost sounds like an advert! Sadly, I have no connection with either company - just some great memories and a smaller bank balance!!
