Calm down calm down! :)

Woy is gone for sure. You gotta go for Martin O'Neill. Match made in heaven for the Pool.

Should be a great MOTD. Ancelotti could be in probs too. And maybe even Houllier!

Cheers,

Ed

i agree Hodgson probably isnt doing the job right, but you have to also blame the players. They rely on Gerrard, Torres and Reina to much, not enough quality in the rest of them. Benitez bought bad, simple as.

Joe Cole was a gamble but he is a player that has to play every game as he can be good one game and crap another.

Cos it so tight at the bottom, there really is a danger they could go down. they wont sack hodgson as they would have pay millions to get rid of him. why do these clubs insist on giving manager 2/3 year contracts (Pardew at Newcastle has 5.5year contract! WTF it that all about! he was crap at Reading and crap at West Ham). SAF has 1 year rolling contract at man u, it works well.

problem also is these clubs thinking that they are bigger than they actually are. yes liverpool have great tradition but are not the club they once were and the same with Newcastle where they think that they are real madrid and should win every game 10-0 (they do, I've been there a few times to watch games, its quite funny listening to them saying that if they had this player and that player they would thrash man u 5-0 etc etc)

Avram Grant will be next out, they will have to do something. Carlo is safe, they wont sack him (remember a few years ago man u finished 4th in league) so i think Red Rom will get his cheque book out in summer and buy 5/6 players to replace the aging ones.

man u will win league, wolves, west ham and birmingham for relegation!!

I agree the players do need to take a look at themselves but Roy has to go today the results just arnt good enough.
Just hope there's an announcement today when America wakes up.

I support the mighty Exeter City :)

I'm not convinced that Liverpool don't have good players. Torres, Gerrard and Reina would walk into any team in the world and players like Carragher, Kuyt and Johnson I could easily see at any top Prem side.

Woy's a lovely guy, but it clearly aint working out.

Martin O'Neill's waiting...talking Italian.

Cheers,

Ed

For my sins, I support THE team in Manchester.

Yes... you've guessed it... Altrincham FC.

Newcastle did win 5-0, we won 5-1 not so long ago, add that to the 6-1 at the start of the season, so maybe with the right player we could win 10-0.

I never thought he was that good of a manager, his win percentage is terrible at English clubs, even at Fulham it was 39%. I think King Kenny coming back would be good to raise moral through the fans, but does he still have it as a manager, look what he did to Newcastle after Keegan left, he got rid of some excellent players like Ginola, Ferdinand, Asprilla, and replaced them with rubbish.

Liverpool will be finished in a few years once Gerrard can't pull the rabbit out the hat anymore, same way Man Utd will when Sir Alex retires.

Amazed to hear that 8 (or was it 9) of the Liverpool players from the other night were in the team that spanked Real Madrid 4-0. Now you see how far they have fallen.

I also mentioned O'Neill to someone a few months ago. He seems to get the best out of players and seems to do well on a relatively tight budget. I would be interested in getting Ashley Young into the 'pool team!

I'm not too sure who else they could get in. King Kenny is nice in theory, but I wouldn't like to see his image tarnished by the current crappy squad. Other people mentioned are Rijkaard and Papin, but would they be able to turn things around?

All I know is that Roy's departure is long overdue and should happen now when the transfer window is open. Yes, he has inherited a poor squad, but he's not exactly bought well with the money he had - Konchesky and Poulsen are not the quality required of a top 4 team or even a team trying to qualify for Europe next season!

i used to travel to Derby every other week from inner Leicester to watch DCFC and travelled alone when i was about 12,all my mates were glory hunters even then....Man Utd, Arsenal ,even more Liverpool because they were mighty in the eighties,Chelsea wasn't on the radar then....DCFC were in the third division back then also.....it was like travelling to the other side of earth back then honestly (it was about 32 miles)

ahhhh happy days

A disinterested viewpoint (I'm a Burnley supporter) - see if I can make you think -

Roy Hodgson has been mentioned in the past by so many top-flight players as THE manager they would like to play for, it is a bit surprising that he has not got the results yet. I don't think it is fair to put him down ...

Martin O'Neill is not going to manage any club except on his own terms. Without the right assurances he will not twitch into action.

Manchester United seem to be showing SirA's Scottish financial prudence. I believe that Berbatov is on a goal bonus, so it costs them a lot when he scores. That's why he can score lotsa goals one week and be dropped the next ...
Remember Ruud van Nistelrooy? He fell out with SirA because Fergie would not put him on as a sub in a game where everyone was scoring goals. Me, I think SirA was being prudent with the bank balance that day ...

Everybody is looking at the obvious answers for the Liverpool job - Kenny Dalglish is unlikely to do it except as a caretaker, he is not a well man. He does look very fit, but there is a limit to the way you train people when you've had a heart bypass op ...

There are some people with demonstrated coaching skills and incredible talent who are just begging for the chance to show their worth. I would love to see that job given to Paul Tisdale, at a time when it would be very easy to tempt his pal David Unsworth from his job as Head Coach of Preston ... although I would love to see that pair at Burnley instead, and Unsworth has a Burnley connection.

That post just sent a shudder down my spine :(

Being an Exeter City fan I want Paul Tisdale to stay at the real St James Park for the next 100 years (even when he's dead he'll do the business for us), so it worries me when a Burnley fan knows how good he is and wants him to join their club.

We wantsssss to keep him all'ssss to oursssselves. He is our little precious ssssecrets. Handssssses off! :p

Cheers,

Ed

PS Trust in Tis.

I knew you'd not be happy.
Just remember, at Team Bath it was Unsworth in charge and Tisdale was the assistant. What could they do when working with world-class players?

Although I could divert attention by mentioning Paul Peschisolido - he's going to be recognised as a world class coach someday.
Or, for that matter, Lawrie Sanchez - not had a fair "crack of the whip" for a while. I'd back either of those against Fat Sam.

Tisdales win percentage is similar to Roy Hodgson, he is a good manager but nowhere near ready for the big time, especially if Gerrard or Carragher flex their power in the dressing room.

I'm sick of the media talking about Deschamps, or Rijkaard, to me Deschamps did well at Juve because he was in their Serie B with world class players, Rijkaard failed at Barcelona where he had world class players.

Give it to King Kenny, it will lift the squad a bit, especially Gerrard because Kenny is an idol to Liverpool fans, the same way Keegan was/is to Newcastle fans. The question will be who he has as No2, because they will play a massive role, could it be Carragher and Kenny would groom him as his successor.

Spoken like a true Magpie - anything to get an edge on the opposition, while sounding convincing.

I've got to mention that Tisdale's playing style was very similar to Gerrard's (albeit rather slower, but you can get away with that at Bristol City). Nobody but NOBODY sensible will argue with a man that talks sense, if it puts money in their pocket. If it agrees with your own evaluation of the situation, there is no point in stirring the pot.

Tisdale has to get the best out of "very average" players, Hodgson has quality to work with - not a fair comparison. And if I hear anyone slating Dan Konchesky again, I will point out that his performances for Fulham over the last few years have been exemplary. He needs time to settle in ...

Give the job to Dalglish, and it sends the message to the players that the manager is expendable. Educated opinion suggests otherwise -

Frankly, I think Mr Dalglish would refuse the job offer in the circumstances. He doesn't need the money, and he is an honorable man.

So based on on his first spell as manager at a shambles of a club, he should go to a Premiership club, bit like Paul Ince at Blackburn, because he deserves a chance.

Everybody, but EVERYBODY will argue with a man when results aren't going their way, look at whats happening right now at Liverpool, doesn't matter who you are players will argue, take a look at Man City with Mancini and Tevez.

Torres, Reina, and several other players want to leave, do you really think Tisdale will convince them to stay.

Yes as a TRUE Magpie, a club that can fill a 52,000 stadium, and not leave a 9,000 capacity with one of the best managers in the world apparently, virtually empty.
