Domain sold but bidder has failed to pay.

The sale price was £5500 so minus sedo's costs I should get £4850.

The bidder has failed to pay, and its been passed to the "Accounts Receivable department"

Anyone been in this position before, what happened and what did you do?

Worth pursuing through court?

Could be just jokers, never any intent to purchase right from the get go.

Happens on any sales platform.

I know you'd be looking forward to that payout (so would I) but best to just move on and let it go.

Yes, but try and enforce it.

I'm awaiting feedback from sedo about who the buyer is, I'll then make sure I promote their competitors.

Agree with Foz. Unless you know who the buyer is, the only option is to move on. Costs of chasing it up would probably exceed 5k and the 'buyer' could turn out to be a penniless bum. Very annoying. My sympathies.

Yeah been in situation before, sold for £5500, Sedo said they were chasing the other party, I kept chasing Sedo. Finally they paid me the money and kept the domain themselves. I think after that, the other party came out of the woodwork and paid Sedo for it.

I am assuming that Sedo didn't make the whole thing up.... they could have bought it from me for £5K then sold it for £10K to a client who they were brokering for....which isn't out of the realms of possibility I guess.

I had the same thing a couple of years ago. Sedo did supply me with details of the bidder who lived in a flat in London, probably rented so no point in persuing, they just move on.

Sedo are useless on this front. Contract is up to you to pursue. I was actually a buyer that got stung!!

Unfortunately sedo wouldn’t give a toss as far as I know for that amount or more even they have never pursued anyone for breach of contract etc, They probably wouldn’t even ban them and your commission wouldn’t cover legal fees,,, If it was an auction then at least the other bidders may be still interested if it was a buy it now sort then forget it and move on....

It's happened to me a few times, once for a .com where it dragged on for nine months!! My advice is to suck it up and move on, the Sedo contract is piss poor and you could spend your time more profitably.

Just an observation, why did you send the domain to auction when you had an offer that you were happy with. I've done it myself in the past and one of those sales fell through and I now wonder if they antagonise the buyer and when no one else bids it must make them question the price or even the quality of the domain.

ofcourse , typical human reaction , if there is no interest from other buyers they will back up and rethink their own decision or even dont consider the domain in the first place , on the other hand if there is a bidding spree , everyone will join regardless of the domain name
