Deleting.co.uk RIP

Even though I lost a lot of revenue to them, they did it way better than I could ever have, I too am sorry to see the site go.

Does this mean any UK drop list can be challenged?
What about the (manually scanned) daily drop list I used to publish here?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your kind comments and support.

As you can imagine I can't say any more than the statement on my site as it was agreed by Nominet - not much else to say really anyway.

Nominet have a procedure for complaints:

http://www.nominet.org.uk/about/complaints/

Or you can suggest a policy change to the PAB:

http://www.nic.uk/policy/pab/

Disclaimer: i'm not encouraging you to use either of the above and I declared my interest in deleting.co.uk after getting elected to the PAB.

Nominet have assured me they treat EVERY member the same - so any member found to be breaking Nominet terms and conditions will face the same consequences.

Andrew

Thanks

I'd like to echo what Andrew's already said.

I don't post much (too busy working on Andrew's "to-do" lists ;) ), but it's nice to know that all of the hard work was/is appreciated.

Cheers

Matt

Thanks for the service. Really appreciate the work that went into it.

Nominet have assured me they treat EVERY member the same - so any member found to be breaking Nominet terms and conditions will face the same consequences.

What if someone was to make a drop list without being a member of nominet. They couldn't really do much then.

It would be interesting to see if certain tag holders seem to make very "timely" registrations from here on out...this decision is a sure way to open the pathway to corruption...

Is there now any way to see a list of domains scheduled to delete even if we can't find out exactly when it happens? Or a place with a complete list of pre-noms?

I was pretty new to deleting.co.uk but found it very handy, thanks for the service and sorry to see it go.

Great site and a very great loss.

The only person(s) that would complain of such a service is a person(s) who have access to this info but do not want it to be shared

You may not provide more than an insubstantial part of the register information to a third party or end user

How much is insubstantial? Is it defined as a percentage?

What would happen if 3 sites were to pop up giving the same info but with different time slots.

site1: 12am-8am
site2: 8.01am-16.00pm
site3: 16.01-23.59pm

That would entail 3 seperate DAC subscriptions. How about if we went as a borg collective, set it up and charged a very small subscription to use. (£1 per month on each site)

As soon as the subscription pays for the annual service (+ additional costs) we reduce the subscription price so more can gain access.

I would be happy to contribute to get it off the ground. Andrew and Matt could set up, maintain the sites and pull a fee for their troubles.

Matt & Andrew,

Thank you for the top-notch service, it really was a breath of fresh air in the stuffy .uk zone.

Best wishes,

Philip.

I only found it less than 6 months ago but was a great resource as everyone knows - sad to see it go, but great that you kept it free...

I think that this would break TOS for DAC because of the collaboration aspect, plus 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 are still substantial parts of their DB I guess...

I Suspect the Big Domainers were involved in getting deleting.co.uk closed my answer to those haters "F*** OFF you made your money let others to !

Thank you Andrew !!!

Why play ball? you coul have kept the lists and given it to all of us, great. I hope the person who complained loses their business overnight, scum. What exact rules were broken, so the domains got mapped, and?

Simple, we get together and challenge nominet, iI can't believe all the data has been deleted, which parts broke the rules, you should have asked.

Christ, not even a warning so we could rip the list. I don't believe this, so who's up for mapping this together and using the lists privately? Time to lobby.

Another big thumb's up for an interesting service which will be missed! Good luck in the next stage of evolution for your business...

thanks for doing the list, but if you could pm and let us know how it was done so we can hold the lists privately then nominet can't do a thing.

Evolution of his business? Evolution of all our businesses. Nominet just changed the operation of around 30 plus people at least, perhaps now time for a collective dropcatcher and shared private list, whoever complained just made a huge mistake, better to let the smaller domainers get on with it than upset them so they come back and kick you off your tower.

Sorry to hear about this Andrew.

So Nominet don't like the service you provide - yet they make all our domain information public via the PRSS - which I certainly object to. When is that closing down?

Oh well, nominet have lost money in this as well, less transfers will be made.

Sorry to see the service go. Was a great little site! Best of luck in the future chaps
