i've been keeping an eye on a .com that i'm after. the renewal date was early october, and i was expecting it to drop mid jan. i've checked it today and it shows as pending delete already. is this correct, and do the rules apply differently to .co.uk's and .com's ?

if it's showing as pending delete now, when should it drop (in theory)?

Its a EPP thing:

PENDINGDELETE: The registry sets this status after a domain has been set in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status and the domain has not been restored by the registrar. The domain will not be included in the zone. Once in this status all registrar requests to modify or otherwise update the domain will be rejected. The domain will be purged from the registry database after being in this status for 5 calendar days.

Add 6 days to the last updated whois date.

.com is a nightmare, you buy a domain but the registrar can nick it, those yanks are mad. you buy a domain and somehow the registrar ends up with property that it can sell on, nah, it's criminal, someone with money should sue them for theft.

Anyone lucky enough to own a LLL.com?

Does anyone here actually own a LLL.com at all? Has anyone with LLL.co.uks ever took the plunge and tried to get hold of a LLL.com successfully? It would be interesting to know how much the two types differ in terms of dropping, etc!
