Hello,

We are well aware that:

Radio.com is owned by CBS
Rum is owned by Diageo for Captain Morgan
Bank.co.uk is owned by Barclays PLC
Breakfast.co.uk by Kellogg's

....

I was wondering if any famous brands own some great keyword .org/net/info ?

Thanks

I'm sure famous brands would own try to own their respective generic names in .net and .org etc. if they could get it cheaply.

In general they go for the .com generic and possibly the cctld in countrys they operate.

Interesting question, actually.

You are absolutely right. Most brand would do exactly what you described.
Com + cctlds.

I've been searching on that for the last few days, and I was surprised that most of the generic names in net, org, info...are owned by domainers.

When I say most, I mean 99.9% of all the domains/ word I've searched: television, car, mobilephone, travel, airlines... I've browsed all categories: electronics, food, beverage, travel, automotive, industry, services...and nicht !

Only some rare exceptions with Apple Inc & some alcohol company who are going for .biz, info, org....

That's why I wanted to know...if anyone knew some example of Brand owning "category generic dictionnary...." domains in extension other than .com & cctld.

?

Hello,

Here I am for a quick update:

So, yes not many companies bought into info, org, biz, net even the ones which are considered "domain clever".

In domain clevers, I will put General Electric, Kraft, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson + a few pharmaceutical companies (by far the largest domains portfolio owners..based on my search)

These are the only names I found so far:
3M own Projectors.org / MacAfee own Webimmune.net & Hackerwatch.org / Johnson & Johnson own Diaperrash.info / Office Depot own: depot.biz /

Limited to pharmaceutical companies: quite few info & biz registered, but those names seems to be trademark, so not really keyword/generic domains.

I will continue my research.

Please feel free to add your contribution :)
