Nah I didn't know about it, only heard about it today.

Here's the YouTube video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYPaN_41tv0

He also has another that explains it in more detail.

Can't believe nobody else spotted the YouTube video but maybe people did and just kept it quiet.

Mate that guy would bore the life out of you, I now see the reason why nobody spotted it. 15 seconds of that video and I'm a sleep. That guy just never gets to the bloody point.

Agreed, life's too short :)

Lets give Bitcoins a chance, I implemented them in January I think, in hosting.co.uk. Compared to the other payment methods they are still very small and of course dangerous for any merchant with todays drastic ups and downs.
But it is really an alternative.

That's a really nice domain (and site actually!). Has anyone ever paid with bitcoin yet?

By the way, if you want to reduce the risk of holding bitcoins you can use something called BitPay which means that you can accept bitcoin and then transfer it to cash straight away = no risk involved.

Hey Jamie!
Yes people use them on hosting.co.uk, and when I wrote: "Compared to the other payment methods they are still very small", I was talking about our site. most people pay with Paypal and Creditcards and BitCoins are very little like Payza or wired bank transfer in our statistics, but I guess they will grow over time and even become a risk for paypal. You are very welcome to move your hosting to us and I will give you a discount if you pay with Bitcoins. :)

viewing web pages. Yes all feel free to donate, Acorn now accepts Bitcoins

Are you sure you want your great brand associated with bitcoins?

The posters who ignore the rules and make it a greasy place to browse sometimes damage it, why do it yourself.

I think its probably only Slimy folk like yourself that make it a greasy place sometimes.

Most people here seem pretty decent.

I see it as an experiment right now, it may become part of Online life, or it may disappear for ever but I doubt it.

I'm happy to take real money or Bitcoin as donations as I can put either to good use towards keeping the forum going.

What's the most straight forward way to actually buy bitcoins? It seems like a rather convoluted process to actually fund an account to begin with.

1. open account at TransferWise
2. open an account at BitStamp
3. transfer UKP to TransferWise, which converts to Euros
4. transfer Euros from TransferWise to BitStamp, which converts to dollars
5. buy BTC on BitStamp
6. profit

A few steps, but all worked OK for me. First transferwise transfer is free as well.
