I was always a "yes" - anything that increases the likelihood of a coalition and therefore by derivation less "extreme" policies gets a big thumbs up from me. It's
when ANY party gets too much power that things really start to go pear-shaped...
The only thing really wrong with our voting system is that not enough people take advantage of it. 40% vote and the other 60% complain when it all goes wrong.
Along with around 100% of the 40% who did take advantage of it
its interesting and ironic that AD seems to have so many socialists..

I don't think it has anything to do with fear, more like experience of seeing PR in action in the countries that already use the system.
the problem with defining PR is that it exists in many different guises, only Australia operates the system as proposed for the UK and they have compulsory voting. If that were the case for the UK i would more likely back the change.
The making people think about their vote argument then has real effect
